Guest guest
I have Hypothyroidism and was originally prescribed Synthroid but my insurance recentely changed and now my prescription card wants to give me generic version of Synthroid. Anyone know if there is a difference in the 2? Thanks,
Guest guest
I have been told by Pharmacists as well as Drs that the generic is not as stable... I had one Pharmacists I am acquainted with via Homeschool who advised not to take generic... he had nothing to gain. I have found I feel better with actual Synthroid I ask my Dr. To write a Prescription that does not allow for generic. I pay more but it is worth it. The full price here without INS per month is only 28.00 Kathy -----Original Message----- From: I have Hypothyroidism and was originally prescribed Synthroid but my insurance recentely changed and now my prescription card wants to give me generic version of Synthroid. Evidently there is a brand new generic available that is actually based on the same recipe as Synthroid. Previous ones did not. The issue then was absorption rather than stability. So, I have been on the new generic a month now and have not noticed any difference. I have always been careful to take it first thing in the morning with nothing else for an hour except a mug of coffee. I suspect that absorption differences might be more noticeable if you eat something in that interval. Chuck
Guest guest
Thanks for that info. I may decide to ck it out in the future. I know that Synthroid warns repeatedly about eating food especially soy and Calcium with it...When we were in The AF I was on Synthroid for several years and they never said not to eat soy or food with it! I had no idea until I did my own research via the internet. I am still bad about eating less than an hour later! Oh well! kathy -----Original Message----- From: Chuck B Shininglight wrote: > I have been told by Pharmacists as well as Drs that the generic is not as > stable...
