Guest guest
Delaine, Can your insurance company really drop you??!!! My husband has been thinking of changing jobs and we have been told that it could be a real problem insurance wise, beacuse I could be denied coverage with his new company because of my pre--exisiting condition. Does anybody out there know anything about this? Also, it was my understanding that Arava was still not FDA approved, is that true? Tery thank you so much for your kind words regarding the kids, I am doing much better today. I think I was just having a little ole pity party on Friday. My best to all of you suffering out there today. We are all thinking about you!! Theresa
Guest guest
Hi Gayle, my fibromyalgia was dx'd about 8 yrs ago. I had an accident on a volleyball court, falling onto my right shoulder. I didn't think anything of it and the pain did not last long. However, several months later I was working on the computer at work (I sat at a computer about 8 hrs a day) when my shoulder suddenly started aching. It lasted for several weeks before I finally gave in and went to a doctor. I was also not sleeping through the night EVER. My mother, who has osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis suggested her rhematologist. I visited with him and he did a total physical. With fibromyalgia, you have several pressure points in your body, mostly in your neck, shoulders and back. Even though my sister in law had to retire this year because of severe fibromyalgia in her legs. My doc prescribed Trazadone and Naprosen. I couldn't tolerate either, so he tried me on several different drugs until I found the right ones. In the meantime, he shot me with cortisone every chance he got. I steadily got worse and he finally sent me to physical therapy for several weeks. This did not help either. I finally got tired of him and switched to a female rhematologist who actually did wonders for me. She put me on Zoloft to take at night and taught me some stretching exercises to do at home. Both of my doctors did tell me this.....if you work at a computer for any length of time, it aggravates the fibromyalgia extremely. Needless to say I still work at a computer everyday. I'm still taking the Zoloft and it seems to relax my muscles at night. My liver doc says it's ok to take. He also gave me Elavil to help with my sleep. Sleep deprivation really, really makes my fibromyalgia act up. Have you seen a rheumatologist for the fibromyalgia? if not, they usually know how to treat it. Of course there is no cure, but sometimes you can controll the symptoms, sort of like AIH. Take care and good luck. I'll be happy you out with anything else. in LA AIH 99'
Guest guest
, Thankyou. I just went to see a rhuematologist and they also did a full workup not blood work though. By the time I left their office of hoping to find pain relief I hurt more than ever. I have the fibro really bad in my legs, my back and now it has gone into my shoulder. I swell like a balloon siting for any length of time sucks. I have to move to different chairs so the pain won't build up. I feel about useless as far as thinking I can work any job. To many limits. Hard for me to concentrate and feeling flu like symptoms every day puts up barriers. I am still seeking a way to make extra money just don't feel like doing anything at present. I am thrilled to have the diagnosis now to work with it. I have spent the past 4 years in a lot of pain so I can handle finding the right drug combo. Trazodone puts me out now I can dream and even feel like I am accentually living the dream. But I am drugged all the time and I still wake choking and coughing. Does Traz. do that to you? gayle/trans.6-99 galye@... ^OO^
Guest guest
I had this early on. Then with antibiotics I would herx, and it got worse..After about a year it is gone except if I did too much and got tired. Now, 4 years later, I never get this anymore! HooRay for antibiotics! Also I am losing my voice and have phlegm that constantly seems to sit in the back of my throat.
Guest guest
Deb, You moved during the test! He did find a very slight area which could be inflammation (patch) in the lower area. By following up in 3 months he will see if the disease is progressing. Of course the antibiotics could help by then too. No evidence of interstitial lung disease is EXCELLENT, It means there is no damage. THe fact that he found old granulamatous disease is very odd, it is another autoimmune disease. He found no tumors either. They are probably just little nodules that don't mean anything. When my CT found that kind of thing I ran to Sloan Kettering in NYC, the Cancer center since it scared me. They were not impressed. They said all I have is SD, and wanted to put me on immune suppressive drugs! SD patients seem to also grow nodules which are not dangerous. I used to wait in fear every time I had to get a test done. As the antibiotics help, you will have less fear. In a message dated 05/27/2001 3:12:22 AM Eastern Daylight Time, rheumatic writes: CT Scan of the Chest without Contrast Clinical history, Short of Breath Expiratory images are somewhat limited due to motion artifact. Patchy areas of air-trapping are seen throughout the lower lobes bilaterally. A minimal degree of linear fibrosis is seen within the right middle lobe. No evidence of Bronchiectasis is present. No evidence to suggest interstititial lung disease is noted..Evaluation of the mediastinum is limited due to the lack of Iv contrast..However, I see no gross lymphadenopathy. Images throughout the upper abdoomen demonstrate a normal appearance to the adrenal glands. Four tiny nodules are seen within the right lung., with a calcified tiny nodule within the left lung. The findings most likelydue to old granulamatous disease. IMPRESSION 1. Patchy areas of air-trapping within the lower lobes bilaterally. 2. No evidence to indicate interstitial fibrosis 3. Tiny nodules bilaterially, with the left lower nodule calcifed. I suspect these all represent tuny granulomas..Given the small size and the lack of a primary malignancy.. REc..followup at 3 months to check for stability

Guest guest
Kristi, you're asking a question that nobody knows the answer to. As most of us that have been in this since the beginning can tell you, it's been a long battle just to get to the point where we're at now. Is it settled? Nope. Will it ever be? Who knows. It's a frustrating and sometimes heartbreaking process but as I'm sure you're already aware, you have to fight for any and every inch that you get. Is it right? Nope. But unfortunately, that's the way it is. Everyone can complain about the process all they want, but, it's not going to change anything. If anything is to change, words are a waste; act. I don't mean to come across so blunt, but this committee has been one of our biggest supporters and allies when it comes to searching for the truth on behalf of our servicemembers. As with anything else that includes the military and the government, plan on a long battle. Guest guest
To all the folks concerned re weight gain - it could also be the fact of sleeping more and storing more fat; being more sedentary; and associated reasons.
