Hi Kristie,

Yes I was on an alternating dose for about 6 months while I was

overseas and couldn't get the exact prescription of Synthroid I

needed at the military pharmacy. When I came stateside I switched to

a steady dose - just the average of my alternating doses. I didn't

notice any difference between the two methods.

Kristie, the crazy jitters and feeling tense all the time on Armour means

you NEED something else with it. Your body is trying to ask you for it.

Broda docs can determine what is missing (like DHEA, progesterone,

cortisol etc). You will have to get the right hormones to feel good again.

I take adrenal glandulars along with my thyroid medicine. (Called Thryoid -

like Armour - its a glandular) I may need to try more cause I am a bit

wired. My BP is up slightly too. If I'm upset its in the low hypertension

range which scares me cause I have an extremely strong family history of it.

Kristie,

Sorry I took so long to respond. I do not have a lot of experience with Thyroid

meds but I do have experience with this. I was put on synthroid back in October

and could not take it after a few days. I was jittery and tense to the point

that I felt I was on the verge of having a seisure. I was not sure what was

causing it. I stopped taking the synthroid and the symptoms stopped. I have

not been back to my endo so I am not sure what the answer is but just wanted to

contribute my experience to this.

Rhonda,

This can happen if you've been given to high a dosage to start with.

Some folks have to start on a very low dosage and slowly ramp up over

a period of several months in order to prevent these kinds of symptoms

from occurring.

Best wishes,

Celeste

Hi Celeste,

I was given 50mcg per day. I am on the larger side weighing 220 pounds. It is

my understanding that 50mcg is a rather low dosage for someone that size. In

fact, my doctor said he was not sure it was high enough. What do you think?

Rhonda,

I would bet that 50 mcg a day is not enough for you, but it depends

on just what your thyroid condition is. The dosage usually does have

to be increased slowly (by 25 to 50 mcg every six weeks or so) until

the correct dosage is reached. In the interim you could experience

some reactions until your body becomes accustomed to the dose. And

that's why it has to be done slowly. Some people can tolerate larger

and faster increases. Some cannot. Please do talk to your doctor

about this.

Best wishes,

Celeste

Dear Rhonda,

It could be possible that your body isn't properly converting T4 to T3. If

you have a backlog of unconverted T4 and Reverse T3 in your body and put more

in, it could make you feel worse--exactly the way you've described. The only

treatment plan I know of that successfully clears out unconverted T4 and RT3

and gets your body making its own T3 again, is the 's Thyroid Sndrome

protocol.
