Guest guest
Hi, I have suffered for eleven years. Have been to doctor after doctor. Had my thyroid checked several times. Finally went to a doc that found that my thyroid was low I start meds next week. I hope it does not take years to get better because I am at the end of my rope. They are also going to put me on human growth hormones and DHEA. Do you take any of these? Thanks brandyhonu <brandy-miller@...> wrote: Aloha, My name is and I suffer from a form of hypothyroidism called Hashimoto's Disease. It took several years (5) for the doctors to find what was wrong with me and three more to get my medication regulated. The physical and psychological aspects were devastating. I am now in the beginning stages of recovery and can finally see the light at the end of the tunnel. I am looking for other women who have gone through something similar. I am a psychology doctoral student and am writing my thesis on the psychological effects of hypothyroidism in women. Guest guest
I TOO SUFFER FROM HASHIMOTO'S THYROIDITIS. 5 YEARS NOW. IT WAS MISDIAGNOSED AND I ALMOST ENDED UP DEAD. MY DOCTOR SAID IT WAS THE WORST CASE HE HAD EVER SEEN. I NO LONGER HAVE A THYROID AS THE ANTIBODIES ATTACKED IT SO AGGRESSIVELY THEY MANAGED TO FULLY DESTROY IT (HAD AN ULTRASOUND... THERE IS NOTHING THERE!!!) IT TOOK 6 MONTHS TO GET ON THE CORRECT DOSAGE. I STILL NEVER KNOW WHEN MY BODY WILL CHANGE AND THE MEDS HAVE TO BE ADJUSTED (THIS ALWAYS MEANS APPROX. A 30 LB. WEIGHT GAIN). IT IS A HORRIBLE WAY TO LIVE. I HAVE MANY OTHER DISORDERS AND DISEASES. THE ANTIBODIES NOW TRAVEL THRU MY BLOODSTREAM AND I RUN THE RISK OF THEM ATTACKING ANOTHER VITAL ORGAN OR ? I HAVE HEARD THAT THE CAUSE OF HASHIMOTO'S IS MERCURY POISONING. I HAVE NOT HEARD ANOTHER LEGIT ANSWER. ANYONE HEAR ANYTHING LIKE THIS BESIDES ME??? LET'S ALL STICK TOGETHER, SO WE DON'T FALL APART. Guest guest
THIS MAY BE A DUMB QUESTION, BUT HAS ANYONE HAD ANY LUCK WITH SOMETHING TO HELP THEM LOSE WEIGHT??? THE ONLY THING THAT HAS EVER HELPED ME IS CYTOMEL. I WAS GOING TO A DOC THAT PRACTICED " NEW MEDICINE " EASTERN AND WESTERN " ... I HAD MUSCLE WEAKNESS, FATIGUE, FOGGINESS AND WEIGHT GAIN (MORE THAN USUAL) SHE PRESCRIBED ME THE CYTOMEL (T3) EVEN THOUGH MY LEVELS WERE FINE... IT HELPED SO MUCH. MY DOC NOW REFUSES TO PRESCRIBE IT TO ME. ANOTHER THING. HE SAYS I AM HYPO (WHICH MY BLOOD TESTS AGREE ON) BUT I AM FFFFFFFFFFFFFFAAAAAAAAAAAAATTTTTTTTTTTTT, FATTER THAN I HAVE BEEN IN A LONG TIME. SCARED IF I GO HYPO THAT I WILL EXPLODE!!! I AM TOO YOUNG FOR THIS S*)#%^$ & !!! THANKS, PAMELA PAMELA <PAMELA@...> wrote: I TOO SUFFER FROM HASHIMOTO'S THYROIDITIS. 5 YEARS NOW. This family of diseases can have many triggers, and there is no evidence that mercury is a trigger for Hashimoto's, although it may well aggravate this and other autoimmune conditions, once they are started. A protein toxin, such as a spider bite, is more likely, although the causes are often completely idiopathic. I know two people who had mercury poisoning and several who had lead poisoning. As you might imagine, people who quickly achieve success with the conventional treatments are not drawn to a discussion list, such as this this. We tend to hear from people with more complex issues or who were just poorly treated in the first place. If you are looking for hope, most of us do eventually get back to relatively normal conditions but with some limitations. Please tell us what stage you are in. That way we can focus on what you can expect next. Chuck

Guest guest
Chuck, Well lets see my problems started eleven years ago after the birth of my son. High anxiety, depression, Hair loss and very dry hair. I have been to tons of docs that tested my thyroid and found nothing wrong. Then finally found a doc that said my thyroid was low. So next week I start on natural thyroid, dhea and human growth hormone. I hope this will work . I am at the end of my rope. I actually tried to take my life last year because I was not getting answers. So at least I have some hope now. Thank you Chuck B <gumboyaya@...> wrote: , You wrote: > Does anybody have a success story on taking meds for there thyroid? > Would love to hear some! Guest guest
most peeps get very poor thyroid/hormone treatment unfortunately! Proper treatment eliminates symptoms and we can have a life again. You can't do that though on T4 only med, anti-D and nerve pill! That just means your doc is confused but you really don't have to settle for poor health. Just look for a smarter doc. http://www.stopthethyroidmadness.com Gracia ... >>I wish I could say I know people who get completly well with Hasto, > But I don't.
