Guest guest
It's been a great challenge to adhere to the diet. I bought the organic turkey bacon from Whole Foods(i also bought organic chicken hot dogs which also lists less than 1gm of cane juice) which didn't list any sugar grams but did list dehydrated cane juice ....sure enough i craved more than 2 slices on sunday and much to my surprise, got fungal symptoms of itching and sleeplessness that night.. i have to start all over again, this is the 5th time I've gotten to the 10day mark and then I've eaten some food that causes me to fall off the diet for a few days. or weeks.. This process is more challenging on an emotional level I think because it involves such a loss of control to feel the intense die off symptoms of fatigue and brain fog. Experiencing the literal " dying " off of all those millions of organisms is really intense and scary...I think we need to support one another more through the emotional hell that goes along with this process. YES, i want to heal my body and this list makes me believe it's possible and yes we need to wake each other up.....even one bite of something with sugar or flour can start cravings. The candida is an organism that is very sneaky & wants to survive. I have to be mindful of all my eating choices. And that's the gift of this illness, I am literally FORCED to be mindful of everything I ingest. Thanks everybody, I send thoughts of healing out to all of you! I've been eating low carb for a long time and I'm used to it, but the modifications I have made for candida were tough. I had to give up my coffee and cream which I was highly addicted to, dairy, fruit, salad dressings, etc. Even though I've been eating this way for so long I still make mistakes. The other day I used some ginger I bought in a gar, thinking it was just ginger. On a whim I checked the ingredients, and second ingredient was corn syrup! Grr... those food industry folks are darn sneaky! If you stick with fresh (not pre-cooked or processed in any way) meat, fresh veggies, healthy oils (olive, coconut, etc.), fresh eggs and fresh herbs, you really can't go wrong. Any time you try to eat any food that is packaged in some way, you run the risk of the stupid food industry adding sugar or starch or something. In my case the only foods I eat that are processed are my oils (expeller pressed) and the pre-chopped garlic in a jar. Now I have to check the jar carefully when I purchase garlic (I don't have time to spend all day chopping garlic). The ginger was bought on a whim trying to be creative, and was a bad idea. If you stick to the basics, cook your foods yourself, it makes it easier. Good luck!
