I still love it but I have become sensitized to the dust of old homes. I mention this because fire fighting is toxic. My husband is chief of his volunteer association. I know you are breathing with a SCBA (canned air) durring the worst of it, but the approach and clean up (even the laundering of the bunker gear) is strong toxins. I am, not so gently, suggesting you consider a desk job. Maybe you could be an instructor. I really do know how hard it is to be forced into a career change in the prime of your life. Sorry, if I'm wrong about this. Dawn, I'm now taking 325mg enteric once a day and 5 PM or there abouts. I started at 650mg for the first couple of weeks. I have been advised by my Dr. to quit firefighting and she was very serious. Then I tried to explain why I wouldnt quit and the only way she got the message was when I asked her how much she liked being a DR. and when she replied alot, I then asked her if she would quit her job. I cant imagine doing anything else.... She agrees to do her best to keep me going and I promise everyone I wear a Pack all the time.... When my body no longer lets me do the job then I will get a desk job.. I have had 13 surgeries but done much better after the desens. I have a lot of headache and vertex pain and frontal pain. The one thing I found that was gangbusters was a sphenopalatine ganglion block. It took all my headache away 100 % as soon as it was complete. I don;t know if they can use a more long lasting product or not but if you can find someone who does these, I think it is worth a try. I do take pain meds now but I am going back for another block in Jan. My thoughts on this are simple, chances are you'll feel sick at almost any job you do, and if you're doing something you love it means your illness comes second. I've quit a job because of my illness but I didn't like it anyway. I'm not sure desk jobs are good for us either. My headaches are 10 times worse when I'm on a computer all day. I'm a strawberry farmer. I like it, but most I like that I have a few months off in the winter to just rest if I need to. I feel it's a necessity for all of us. If we could all just win the lottery. The doctor puts a needle into the nose in both sides and inserts some numbing medicine way high up in the nose. It blocks the ganglion ( nerve center) for the area that controls most of the front of the face and head. It can also be helpful for migraines and in a well trained person it should be simple to do and takes about a minute. Guest guest Posted December 22, 2004 Report Share Posted December 22, 2004 Carol, Thank you. I have another question for you or any other medical people out there. I've had blood in my urine. They found it pre op (in October) and I was just tested again and the amount of blood has not decreased so they want to do an IVP (xray of kidneys bladder and urethra). I should of asked more questions when the nurse called, but for some dumb reason I feel like if I ignore it, it will go away. I always have this habit of trying not to seem worried or paranoid. Apparently they only found trace amounts. I know that they inject two types of dyes into me and beyond that I don't know what to expect. Also I'm wondering what doctors are looking for when they do this xray. I guess I'm a little concerned about all the news on celebrex and kidney failure, as I've been taking it for 4 or 5 years. I'm on my second set of antibiotics since my surgery in Nov. They didn't find any bacteria in the urine sample either. My energy level never got back to normal (which isn't saying much) since my surgery. Actually I haven't felt energetic since July (after strawberry season). I just assumed when I work 15 days straight that I just don't bounce back very well. Any info would be great. Thanks for listening. Happy Holidays to all. Tami in Wis. Statistically with normal kidney function I doubt celebrex has anything to do with it. An IVP or dye xrays just tells you if you have any anatomical abnormalites there or stone, tumors, duplicate collection system etc. Many times the most common reason in women is just from a dropped bladder from childbearing. You get a little pool of stagnant urine that causes a trace of inflammation and will put a few blood cells in the urine with negative urine culture. I would mostly not worry- Hope this helps. I do have a small problem with incontinence and am told that I probably do not empty my bladder each time I go. Hope that's all it is. What can I use for pain in this area that can take care of it without having to take muscle relaxers? It is very difficult to treat says the doc. It is very difficult to treat says the doc. ==>Did your doctor say what kind of muscular syndrome it is. Candida causes muscular problems, even in the sinuses. Staying on the diet and supplements will help. In the meantime to relax the muscles massage your sinuses, apply wet heat, and put coconut oil drops in your nasal passages.
