Jody,

It sounds like you were not doing any resistance training so I could

understand the weight gain. Only muscle burns calories.

Katrina,

It sounds like you had a very desirable result.

I don't think it's a good idea to reduce carbs drastically. That

usually does more harm than good. Without knowing exactly what you

were eating, though, and how many calories you were expending it's

hard to say that your weight gain didn't come from too many calories.

Jody,

I uploaded a photo of myself to the group. You can view it at

hypothyroidism/photos and tell me how

much you think I weigh. I'm 5'7 " in my bare feet. In the photo my

bodyfat percentage is about 10%, but now I am 10 lbs. heavier at 15%.

I think you are missing my point. All I'm saying is that weight gain

does not necessarily go along with hypothyroidism and the same thing

is not true of every person who has thyroid disease. If weight gain

were one of the MAIN symptoms of hypothyroidism then every person who

is hypothyroid would experience it. I have not met (in person) anyone

who has experienced weight gain as a direct symptom of hypothyroidism.

Looks like it does happen, though.

Thank you for all your feedback. It has been a learning experience for

me.

Somebody on this board mentioned that Celeste had apologized. I don't think I

received that particular post. If anyone has it, could they please repost it?

Thanks!

I'm assuming that Celeste's apology for her smug and insensitive remarks did not

get out to everyone on the board. When everyone sees the apology, I'm sure we

can all move on!

Reneé,

If you knew what to look for in the appearance of someone who has

taken steroids you would know that I never have. I've always been a

soprano. :-)

Gail,

If you saw my remarks as smug then I know you missed my point. I'm

sincerely sorry if I came across as insensitive. Mostly I'm trying to

destroy any stereotype of the hypothyroid person. I'm very proud of my

achievements, but I certainly can't say that I've never been wrong!

Well, that sounds like a humble apology to me! Let's all move on! Phew!
