Guest guest
No, Kim... not yet...I weigh 40 lbs. more than I did when I was diagnosed with Graves. I've tried several different " diets " ....low fat.... low carbs...etc. Right now I am just trying to eat less in general and trying to avoid sugar and bread. I'm " holding the line " ...haven't gained any weight in a month. I've been on the " block/replace " treatment and have been off all thyroid meds for two months now. My most recent blood test showed the T4 in the low normal range. My Dr. says we will test again in about 6 weeks and see what happens next. This was the first visit with him where he said " perhaps in remission " and did NOT mention RIA might be necessary after all!! So... I am hopeful that the weight gain has stopped and now that I am beginning to have more energy again, I will be able to exercise again and will be able to drop some of this weight. I hope.....I always hope... (frances point) Reply-to: hyperthyroidism hyperthyroidism Hi. Just wanted to say that I understand what you are feeling about the weight gain. I gained 7 lbs. one week while eating basically salads, walking every day, etc. I took my husband with me when next I went to see my endocrinologist. I wanted a witness when I told him that I had been watching my diet and exercising, etc. and had still gained 7 lbs. in one week!!! I was just sure the Dr. would think I'd been eating cake all week with out my husband there to agree with what I'd said. Keeping a food and exercise diary sounds like a good idea. At least you will be able to hand it to the Drs. and let them read that following their diet is either helping..or not.... So..while I have no answers, just wanted to say that I do understand and hope that when other levels stabilize, we'll be able to drop some of this weight we've put on!! Best wishes..... FranFran, how did you take it off? or did you? thanks Kim
Guest guest
Hi Kim! Thanks so much for your post. I too have those black floaters. They appear with die-off which I always take as a sign that my liver is struggling. I have read a few article that suggest that black floaters in the vision are related to sluggish liver - although of course, like for yourself, it can mean actual retina problems I believe. The starburst things you describe sound a little bit like what I have but mine are there all the time but get much worse with die-off. You are right - I must get it checked out - although it was looked at 5 five years ago when my systemic candidiasis/CFS began. They just said it was scarring to the back of my eye caused by Epinstein Barr virus which I had years ago. The problem is that virus has long gone and cannot still be causing this scarring. It is scary but I still underneathe have a feeling that it could be the candida - I think Bee mentioned sometime ago that someone she knew had suffered brain lisions as a result of candida. If it can do that it probably can do anything! ( I will just pray that it is " just " the candida) Many Thanks Kim Love

Oh gag, yuck, and brrrrrr, all at the same time. Looking at candida from this perspective really shows just how nasty it is to have the overgrowth of this stuff while still ALIVE, ugh! That is why it is so important to overcome candida - for health, for life! Luv, Bee

Guest guest
Hello Kim, You post brought tears of relief for you to my eyes. I am so happy things are going well and that you felt the difference right away. I cannot wait for my day - a week from tomorrow - to be here. Keep up the good work. How are you doing with the pain meds and did you have the epidural/block or general? I see my surgeon this afternoon for the last appt before the surgery. Guest guest
I did the epidural and it was fine. Next time I will do the pain pump. With the epidural I was not able to get the pain pump until 48 hours....so by then I just went to pain pills. I just did not like having to depend on the nursing stay to bring me pain meds. Which several times it took to long to get. I don't like not being in control. So I will do the pain pump next time. I just got done with PT then I will be heading home in a few hours. When I get home later I will give a complete report. \\ Kim
Guest guest
Dear Kim, Thank you so much for the input on the epidural. Now I do not feel badly about having general. Actually, I remember the OS telling me that the pain pump would be very necessary. Do have your red count checked for why you are feeling tired. I hope you can perk up and keep up the good work. I know it must be really hard to keep going when you are so tired. Still have much to do before I sleep tonight but I do feel very ready. I feel very teary tonight....not sure what that is about but I just tell myself this surgery is a big thing and it is OK.One more day to work. Marciakendrick1086@... wrote: hello Marcia, You will be in my thoughts and prayers this Tuesday for a speedy recovery. I have to put my 2 cents in about the epidural. I had one along with being put to sleep. When he first put the epidural it the meds caused me to have and asthmia attack. It toks a couple to get it right. What I didn't like was depending on the nurses to give me more pain meds. Since I had the epidural I could got get a pain pump for 48 hours. Put I could get additional pain control throught my IV. My problem was getting the nurse to give me the shot when I asked for them. So times I would have to wait 30 to 45 mins until I got the shot by then I would really be hurting. So needless to say the next time I do this I will opt for the pain pump and no epidural. That way I have control of my own pain control insteading of having to depend on the hospital staff. Just my option Marcia..... As for me I am doing pretty good. I am still have problems with being very tired these last few days so it has made it hard for me to want to do my excersices. I may have to go to the doctor on Monday to have my blood checked and make sure my Red count has increased. I lost a lot of blood and my count was still low after a transfusion of my own blood. Other then that I am doing pretty good. I am still only at 95 ROM. I am very disappointed in myself because I was doing so good in the beginning. I think it is time for me to get in PT. Home nurse says I am still doing good....we will see. I am going to be good and do extra excersices today. Kim Want to be your own boss? Learn how on Small Business.
