Yeast Tests and Prostate Trouble

Barb rapped me on the knuckles for believing what a woman

who answered the phone said about whether not eating starch

before a stool test would make a difference. You're right,

Barb! I should've asked for her qualifications. Really!

I want some kind of test to make sure I have candida, Bee.

Dr. Crook's questionnaire doesn't give me a high reading,

and my score indicates that candida " may " be the cause of my

symptoms. That's why I want to make sure candida is causing

my symptoms.

Anyway, I went to a 3rd urologist to see what can be done

about my enlarged prostate. I've had this problem for a

good 2 years now. I'm 38, and too young for an enlarged

prostate. I asked the dr. if candiasis could have thrown

off my hormones and enlarged the prostate. He was as

emphatic as all the other Western dr's I've seen: He said

that people w/systemic candiasis/fungal infections are

EXTREMELY sick and require hospitalization. As I wasn't

extremely sick, I didn't have it. (Somehow, that doesn't

make me feel better!). Well, as a dr., I'm sure he knows

what he's talking about (NOT!). It was on the tip of my

tongue to ask, " What about nonsystemic candiasis? " , but

didnt' want to get thrown out of his office after I'd waited

a month for the appointment.

I learned a valuable lesson that everyone here can benefit

from. When I made the appt I told the receptionist I was

seeking a 2nd opinion. Unbeknownst to me, she called the

lst dr. and got copies of my files there. (The lst dr.

didn't charge for this, so it was free.) I was furious, as

I didn't approve this in advance (that I knew of). It turns

out that I had when I signed my rights away on the first

visit to dr. #1. I was lucky, as he doesn't charge to have

records copied and forwarded. Most dr's do. They're

allowed by law to charge a " reasonable " fee, and my

Congressman told me that $20 is NOT considered unreasonable.

(So if you're seeing many dr's, don't sign away your rights

or every " forward " might cost you $20.)

Has anyone had a problem with an enlarged prostate b/c of

candida? I'll probably wait for the brain fog to lift

before I pursue any surgery, btw.

Dr. #2 said saw palmetto is an option, but no double-blind

studies have been done that pin down the dose or time frame

before results are seen. Whether I have a TURP or laser

surgery, each will make me unable to father children the

natural way.

Glenn,

Yes, this: " He said

that people w/systemic candiasis/fungal infections are

EXTREMELY sick and require hospitalization. " wouldn't make me feel

better. I would just think maybe I'll be there shortly. They must

have been 'out of the hospital' when they got the diagnosis, unless

they got it in the hospital. I was told the same thing

incidentally.

Have you tried an MD that practices homeopathy? I could give you

some links that list recommended doctors by zip code. You have to

try several at least if you have a complicated problem or if outcome

is important to you. Conventional doctors do not address

possibilities of Candida unless you are dying of it for some reason.

Regarding the test, this is just 'my idea'. Candida is present in

everyone, so it is just the 'amount' that they are looking at. So

if most people who take test just left Mcs, had a big Mac,

french fries and a large coke and I haven't had a sugar pass my lips

for over a year, I think quantities of yeast would not give true

picture. If you take test, just trying to help your results to be a

reasonable picture of your Candida status.
