Guest guest
hi keisha! well, what do you think of this crazy weather we're having? Almost 70 degress one day, then 18 degrees another....this is NUTS! anyway, I forgot to respond to your post the other day about coconut oil. I don't know how often you get to Louisville, but if you're anything like me, I came here all the time when I lived in Indiana. I buy my coconut oil at Wild Oats. It's a health food store pretty close to St. Mall...on Shelbyville Rd. I buy my supplements there too...and a lot of groceries. What dosage of synthroid are you taking? If you're experiencing improvement but are still feeling low energy, it might be time to talk about possibly increasing it. When do you see your doctor again? Take it easy & try to stay warm!!!! Guest guest
Hello sheila, This weather is nuts! For real! I mean my husband and I was going to walmart last night and it was cold when we went there but nothing to big, but all I know is when we left walmart there was about one inch of snow on the ground. We didnt even know it was suppose to snow. we was shocked- hehe- I know where st matthews mall is hopefully if my hubby has a day off he can take me there- I dont drive in louisville. I have before but you better believe I got my butt lost! I dont know how to get around in louisville. I would have no clue how to get the st. matthews mall, but I have been there. How much does the coconut oil cost? On the interent it is like 24 dollars- Do you take like 3 tablespoons a day of it? What is the taste like? A friend of mine told me it was nasty but then another person told me it tastes good. I dont know what to believe..hehe- I am on 100 mg of synthroid. I still feel very tired during the day- I have to have my nap everyday and it is like a two or so hour nap! I feel better once I am up- I have a odd schedule because my hubby and I stay up all night watching movies and I go to bed around 4 am- but I get up around 12 noon ( so I can watch my soaps) and then around 3 or so I get to feeling better- that is when i get in shower and get ready and do whatever I want at that time- I usually walk or something- I have been drinking alot of water- every time I turn around I am drinking some water- ( it really doesnt agree with me at nigh) I am up all night peeing- hehe- well once I go to bed I am up peeing- hehe-I have noticed some jeans of mine getting looser on me and stuff like that but I am very (pushy) on my weight lose- I am trying to tell my self that this weight didnt come over night and it will take time to lose it but I am very inpatient- I would say about two months ago my waist line was 49 ad half- and now it is 45 and half- so I am happy on that- well email back- nice talking to you- keisha Kemal Kalajdzic <kemalandsheila@...> wrote: hi keisha! well, what do you think of this crazy weather we're having? Guest guest
Hi girlfriend...same crazy stuff here. Last night my hubby and I were at our friends' house, and they live close to Oldham County (Crestwood/LaGrange area--up I-71 going toward Cincinnati). Anway, it was around 11:30 p.m., and we couldn't believe it when we looked outside. It looked like about 2 inches of snow. It was a really wet snow, too...good for snowballs. The roads were nasty too, and we had a fairly long drive back (we live in the Hikes Lane area--Breckinridge Lane--about 1 mile from the Red Lobster). You know, have you checked your local Wal-Mart for coconut oil? Or maybe Kroger? I don't know if ours carry it or not; we just always get our stuff at the health food store. Anyway, that coconut oil was pretty cheap I thought...about $6.00 for 14 oz. Here's a link to their website which show the Louisville store address & phone. You can see a map too if you click on one of those links under the phone number & address in case your hubby wants to venture over this way. I haven't actually used the coconut oil for cooking yet. So far, I've just been applying it to my hands because they are unbelievably dry. It does seem to be helping...we'll see how my hands are after a week though. sound like you and I have a similar schedule, although mine will be changing as of Monday. I'm a late night person too. My husband and I work nights at a restaurant. We usually go to bed between 3 a.m. & 6 a.m....sometimes even later. We get up between 11:30 a.m. & 1 p.m....depending on what time we hit the sack. Occasionally we'll sleep until 2 p.m. I have another job working at a doctor's office; I do that days a week during the daytime. Next week I'm starting back to school, so I'll be working both jobs and going to school part-time...that's during the day as well. So I have a feeling I'm gonna be hittin' the sack a lot earlier than what I normally do. I'm like you Keisha, I don't drive in Louisville either! LOL! Seriously, I do drive and can get around; I just don't like to. I HATE being in a car. When my husband and I were dating I would ride my bicycle from 32nd street downtown all the way to the area we live now. Then I'd bike back home. That's a really big trek! I just love being outdoors; I'd much rather walk or bike...much less stressful for me. I have this stupid phobia about being in the car for very long. But I can if I have to. Keisha, I can't remember if you saw any of the links about Cytomel (T3) or read much about it here in the archives. You might feel better adding that, along with the Synthroid. I can't remember if I talked to you about that yet or not, but if you would like info about it, let me know. I felt better initially when I was just taking Levoxyl (T4), but once I added the Cytomel (T3), I felt much more like my old self. I'm wondering if you might feel better on a Synthroid/Cytomel combo. Or even better would be Armour, which is what I'm taking now. The endo that I posted to you about in the previous posted prescribes Armour. So many people told me they felt better taking it. I also read a lot of testimonials from doctors and patients about Armour & how great it is. If you want more info about that, let me know. Have you read much from the archives yet? If you haven't, you might read some, a little at a time so you can learn more. I know it's a lot, believe me. I didn't know anything about this disease either at first, but after I joined this group and another thyroid group, I read all the archives and just dedicated myself to learning as much as I could about my condition. I'm so glad I did. Let me know if you need or want information about any of the thyroid drugs or anything else. Hey, I'm also just like you...pee all the time!! I drink tons of water, and it drives me nuts going to the bathroom...up and down all night, but I can't help it. Keep your spirits up about the weight. It'll happen...maybe not as fast as you would like, but at least it's happening. That's great that you're walking! I know exercise can be hard when you energy levels are low, but it's really so good for you. You know, even if all you can do is 5 minutes; that's something. I remember years ago I didn't even do that. I had to start out small...5 minutes of walking...then 10...then 15. And besides that, it's great for your heart muscle!!! Give yourself lots of pats on the back girl! Well, I need to get some paperwork done. Ugh! Take care and keep in touch. Feel free to e-mail me anytime at kemalandsheila@... Guest guest
Hello shelia, I would love the info on those meds you are talking about. You can email me if you want to about them. I have done alot of research on this disease now that I have it- shanon is very good - I love reading her site- I also go to library and read alot of books on it- I am trying to get books on synthroid (my med) so I can learn about it and what to exspect- Girl I was at walmart last night and I weight my self on the scales they hav there- one was out of the box so i put it on the ground and weight my self- my hubby did to so i would no for sure if it was right and it is right but it said I weight 270!!!! oh my lord- I never weight that much in my life- I never was over 250. heck a few weeks ago I was at 250 and I know I am losing because I cant fit into my jeans no more- I am now in a size 20. which I havent been in for years. I wanted to let ya'all know a little about what's happened the past few days. I saw my dietician, and it was so great to see her again! She told me not to worry about becoming diabetic. She said even though my lab was in the high range at 100, she said 100 is not bad at all. She also told me that with Hashi's those antibodies can skew those results. I know our antibodies can skew our TSH, etc, also our ANA antibodies and other tests. Have ya'all heard or read that they can also mess with glucose level test results? She told me I am 100% on track with my diet and that I am doing all the right things. She did suggest that I get away from that math lab for at least a half hour and eat a nice meal vs. jerky and fruit that I'm snacking on. She said those are fine snacks, but that I'll probably feel better if I eat a meal and get away. I think she's right. she also told me the reason I feel nauseated in the mornings has to do with my sleep cycle. she said that the hormones that make us hungry are different when we are on a second shift or third shift schedule. she said it's normal that I don't feel hungry until about 2 p.m. and that I feel a little nauseated. I can't remember her explanation too well, but I do know it has something to do with melatonin and some other hormones. Anyway, I BARELY passed my math test. I got a 75. the C range is 79- 75. There are no D's given in my algebra class. Anything below 75 is flunking. So I got by just by the skin of my teeth. The good news is she is letting us rework the problems we missed. If we get them right we get 1/2 the credit they were originally worth. She said only one person in the entire class got a better grade on this test than they did on the previous test. She thinks part of it is because we had 5 different teachers in a two-week period while she was out recovering from her car accident. So I'm very pleased I have the chance to bring up my grade. I took care of myself last night. I went to bed at 8 p.m. after watching a movie with Kemal. I slept until 8 a.m. this morning. I needed it!!!! I gotta run guys! Talk to you later!
