Guest guest
Hi , If you haven't already heard, the answer is YES. Infact this is always one of the first symptoms for me. All the other ones start falling into place a few days later. The good news is that it is always the first to leave once I get the meds adjusted. In my own experience: Unexplained/uncontrollable urge for tearfulness is due to lack of T3. General sense of feeling down, like you are wearing a heavy black blanket is total T4. And don't think this means " not functionable " because that is more a factor of determination. With few exceptions we all know with some introspection whether situational circumstances is bringing us down to that degree. If something doesn't immediately pop out at you (like divorce or death) then odds are it's physical. If more T4/T3 alleviates it, or antidepressants if you go that route don't, it is definately a factor of the thyroid. If you are like me, just tell yourself it will pass. It is not permanent with the right dose, and it will pass. I am finally out of the " mood " after a month of really feeling down. Why? My natural levels bounce up and down making it hard to treat. Even my endo agreed that was what was going on, so hang in there. -- In hypothyroidism , sunnygal7@y... wrote: > > I was wondering...can depression be a side effect of hypothyroidism? > This semester has been crazy for me but I'm not sure that > the " feeling down " I have experienced is just situational.
