Guest guest
I read through the Great Plains book they sent me (I called and asked for something to convince my dr. to use their service; Great Smokies said to go to their Webpage, so choose Great Plains!), and it says that a dr. (MD/DO) doesn't have to sign for their tests. Chiropractors, naturopaths, nurse practitioners, and nutritionists/dieticians are ok, too. That might make it easier on your wallet in dealing w/some of these wacky holistic drs. As I mentioned, the last one (a D.O.) kept me waiting in his office for nearly 2 hrs, then flounced in w/o apology, and kept falling asleep when he wasn't telling me about the sex he had in college (w/details). All I cared about was getting him to sign for my stool test from Great Plains. Without insurance, the visit to him would've been $250. (It cost $25 instead.) Either the Great Plains or Great Smokies Labs, if you're into going to them for testing (for whatever), will supply you with a list of dr's in your state, area code, or zip code. It might take some persistence to get them to email you a list or to get a complete list for the entire state (or nearby states). Everyone seems to use Great Smokies, but I saw the dr. today (a holistic guy in NJ who has a radio program on health) and he said the Great Plains comprehensive stool test would give him all the info he'd get from Great Smokies, and it'll cost me $15 through Blue Cross (~$300-400 otherwise). The number for Great Plains is 913-341-8949; www.greatplainslaboratory.com. I'm pushing for these tests as Crook's yeast test said I was 'borderline' and didn't say my problems were due to yeast. I don't have many of the classic symptoms (gas, blaoting, etc.) After spending $3000 out of pocket, I want something I can hang on the wall to say, " This is what's wrong with me! " <wink> FYI.
