Guest guest
Sheila, I'm pretty sure I had the ANA test which was positive, but my endo told me it was b/c of hashimoto's. Maybe you don't have to worry...... ----Original Message Follows---- From: " Kemal And Sheila Kalajdzic " <kemalandsheila@...> Reply-hypothyroidism hypothyroidism Subject: new tests results--another autoimmune disorder?? Date: Tue, 06 Jan 2004 06:01:27 -0000 hi guys. I got my lab results. No one from my endo's office called. Instead, my friend and co-worker called my endo's office and told them my PCP wanted a copy of my test results (she did this because I have been putting off calling them to get the results.) _________________________________________________________________ Get reliable dial-up Internet access now with our limited-time introductory offer. http://join.msn.com/?page=dept/dialup
Guest guest
sure hope I don't have to worry. both of these sound much less treatable than Hashi's. you may be right...after reading this below, it's possible the ANA antibodies might be from the Hashi's. I was also sick the day I got the test done (bronchitis), so maybe that influenced it? hope so, 'cause i need another auto immune disease like I need a hole in the head! Thanks, ! Hugs, Sheila Autoimmune diseases are conditions in which there is a disorder of the immune system characterized by the abnormal production of antibodies (auto-antibodies) directed against the tissues of the body. Autoimmune diseases typically feature inflammation of various tissues of the body. ANAs are found in patients with a number of different autoimmune diseases, such as systemic lupus erythematosus, Sjogren's syndrome, rheumatoid arthritis, polymyositis, scleroderma, Hashimoto's thyroiditis, juvenile diabetes mellitus, disease, vitiligo, pernicious anemia, glomerulonephritis, and pulmonary fibrosis. ANAs can also be found in patients with conditions that are not considered classic autoimmune diseases, such as chronic infections and cancer. What other conditions cause ANAs to be produced? ANAs can be produced in patients with infections (virus or bacteria), lung diseases (primary pulmonary fibrosis, pulmonary hypertension), gastrointestinal diseases (ulcerative colitis, Crohn's disease, primary biliary cirrhosis, alcoholic liver disease), hormonal diseases (Hashimoto's autoimmune thyroiditis, Grave's disease), blood diseases (idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura, hemolytic anemia), cancers (melanoma, breast, lung, kidney, ovarian and others), skin diseases (psoriasis, pemphigus), as well as in the elderly and those persons with a family history of rheumatic diseases. here's the link to the above: http://www.medicinenet.com/Antinuclear_Antibody/article.htm K a r e n P <karlynn17@...> wrote: Sheila, I'm pretty sure I had the ANA test which was positive, but my endo told me it was b/c of hashimoto's. Guest guest
your thyroid tests are mostly useless. Stop worrying about all kinds of diseases and just get enough Armour. Then add cortef if needed. Gracia > hi guys. I got my lab results.
