Guest guest
Kaye, The heat is very bothersome to me now, I can't tolerate humidity at all. Right now, NJ is having brown outs every four hours, 101 degrees yesterday and no air. Two little ones suffering with me. (7and 4 ). Is dizziness a side effect of Pred or Imuran. I feel very light headed, dizzy at times.
Guest guest
: I, too, have lots of problems with dizziness. I don't know if it is a side effect of prednisone but I don't take imuran. Does anyone else know? Guest guest
Count me on the side of heat and humidity intolerance. I've been suffering from edema already, now with the heat, I look like I have no fingers or toes!! Don
Guest guest
Kaye & Kathy: I sometimes get dizzy but not often. The brain fog as you call it is really getting thick though. My family start laughing at me when I am talking and stop and forget what I am saying. They also like the blank look on my face. Guest guest
I hear you re: brain fog! My wife and I have many arguments over whether she told me something or not. Yesterday, my daughter said that she sat down on the couch with me to tell me where she was going. She asked me if I was awake and I said that I heard her the first time she told me (though I was snoring then). I have no recollection whatsoever of talking to her. I was upset because she always tells one of us where she is going. I later apologized to my wife for all of those arguments as I realized that it really was my memory that was shot, not hers. It's kinda spooky to recall nothing about an event that happened just a couple of hours earlier. Don
Guest guest
Hello, Just my own personal experience (as limited as it is thus far)! I had a lot of dizziness and light-headedness when all my levels were crazy, but since I've been taking pred and imuran it has slowly decreased. I hope this happens with you too! >From: Kaye Gillis <kgillis@...> >Reply- onelist > onelist >Subject: Re: [ ] THE HEAT >Date: Wed, 07 Jul 1999 14:30:42 -0400 > >From: Kaye Gillis <kgillis@...> > >: > >I, too, have lots of problems with dizziness. Guest guest
Sue, I work, but from home. We have our own business, thank God. I do the computer work and the bookwork and take orders over the phone, all things that require little effort. It is heaven sent. I don't think I could ever go out and do a full days work anymore. I miss that though. The outside contact. Guest guest
SueB: I know that it will come to my not working at all and I really never what not working was like. But I guess I will adjust. Maybe volunteer for the hospital or something easy to do. I know my house would be clean and the washing always up to date and dinner on the table everynight. But time will tell Sue AIH Wisconsin
Guest guest
Hello, I've been having a hard time dealing with this heat - have found it impossible to continue the diet sweating all day, with no energy. In times past I would consume more sweets when hot and I've done this the last couple of days, trying to get more energy. So here I am now, having broken the diet, feeling a desperate need to increase my calories because of the heat, and not being terribly successful at it. When its over 100, a cup of brocoli doesn't look so good, but chocolate ice cream sure does.

Goods fats in the cells help the body deal with heat or cold better. Eating sugars and other carbs will only create a vicious cycle for your body, which will use much more energy to consume it. Carbs/sugars also blocks oxygen getting into the cells, which is needed for respiration and cooling. You get lots of calories from " good " fats like coconut oil, butter, etc. (it contains more than twice as much per weight than carbs and proteins). Try drinking more lemon juice and ocean sea salt in water; put some cool water in a spritzer and spray it on your body; take a cool epsom salts bath (mix epsom salts in warm water to dissolve it first, then add it to the bath); run the shower cold and sit in the bathroom to suck up the great ions it produces; make a cold herbal tea and put a lemon or line wedge in it; have some boiled eggs on salad greens with cucumbers, eat cold sauerkraut or kimchi & so on.
