Please help....

I am also relatively new to this list though I have been suffering with this

illness for several, if not more years than I can remeber and I am truly at

the end. I need a serious, caring, sensitive doctor that will actually listen

to me AND try to help! Does anyone here know of a thyroid specialist in the

NYC or NJ area that will treat me even if my blood tests are all normal. I

know that I am hypothyroid and I dont think I can live another day like this.

PLease, if anyone knows of a decent doctor in the area, please, please, let

me know.

Thank you & God bless,

Dolores

THANK you so much for kindly replying and trying to help me. I am going to

try a doctor I looked up on about.com's thyroid specialist list. But can you

tell me what food supplements you are talking about to help the thyroid. I

dont think I am familiar with them.

Thanks again,

Dolores

Dear Dolores:

When i recently was close to collapse after having gone through 4

intensily stressful months, I pulled myself up by taking:

1.A good vitamin-mineral complex (I get mine at COSTCO- Kirklalnd

brand " PREMIUM " has herbs--can't hurt! ;-)

2. a Super B-complex--Kirkland costco

3. Vit E 1000i.u.---Kirkland costco

4. MSM 1000 mg. (Trader Joe's in Calif has the best price on this

one)

5. DHEA 25 mg. (Puritan's pride has good price)

6. Coenzime Q10 (I THINK I also got it a costco)

7. Calcium/magnisium citrate (importat that it have those three

names--the particular one I get is SOFTGELS because I fouond I could not

swallow most horsepills you get with most calciums.

8. Glucosamise Sulfate (also found it in capsules for same

reason as above)

9. FlaX Oil.

==============

Read the stuff on the web site i sent earlier.-- there are hundred of

pages and it is all very informative. Also this other web site has great

reading material

www.vrp.com

There are several books on " SMART DRUGS " worth reading. I don't have titles handy.

good luck. only YOU can really help yourself......try different things, change your diet, find out what makes you feel better.

(It was hard for me, who loves sweets, to give up all sweets and ice cream, and the occassional beer.... but , boy!! what a difference it makes on how I feel -- and it has only been 3-4 weeks!!

Dolores, go to http://www.thyroid.about.com There is a list of " Top

Doctors " on that website and I'm sure you can find one in your area.

Thank you ....I have already been there. The only problem is, I've

called several doctor's offices from that list and found that they all will

only treat you based on positive blood work, and that is not going to help

me. I dont think my blood tests will be indicative of hypo, but I know that I

have it and Im so afriad to spend more time and money on a wasted office

visit that will leave me more frustrated than before.

Thank you though for your help.

Dear All;

The best answer to finding a " doctor " who will treat thyroid dysfunction is

to remember that all " doctors " rely on useless blood tests for thyroid

function.

You will find viable data for solving your own thyroid problems at

www.thyrodine.com
