Guest guest
Thank You! Tell your mom she does not suffer through this alone! I forgot to mention I do take 5mcgs of cytomel but I think Armour has a lot more T3 than that, doesn't it? -Dana -- Re: More advice is needed! Guest guest
Armour has t1 and t2 as well and we don't know exactly how important they are ---we may have some old info on that here( past posts) knows more---but 5mcgs is a very low dose---most take 15- 20mcgs. a day--and the difference between natural and synthetic is huge when it comes to your body assimilating it. Now don't get me wrong here some have to take synthetic and it's ususally those with hashi's because some (very few) have problems with armour--that is because they probably need adrenals first to correct the allergic response. But if you can take armour you won't have the side effects of bone problems later on in life that has been reported here on our site--- we have had a few with vitamin D deficiency. So if you have to take this please look into this as well. In your case you just may need more cytomel---if your meds still don't work well---look into your adrenals---if they are low and struggling your thyroid meds only hurt them more as they try and keep up with the higher dose of thyroid. They work together and you add more thyroid it puts more stress on the adrenals. this is why so many have to keep on increasing their dose of thyroid meds---it's a very delicate balancing system. One very FEW doctors understand!!!!!!!!!!! -- In hypothyroidism , " Sales@b... " <BHD@H...> wrote: > Thank You! Guest guest
Hello Dana, I would just tell your doctor that you think that you are wanting to try another med to see if you feel better- I just recently told my doctor the same thing and he did it- Tell him you just yet are not feeling 100 percent better and you want to try something new- If he doesnt want to listen to you then I would recommend a second opinion. I Just posted some lab work here a few days ago and I still havent got any responce yet- so, I have no clue what my lab work means--lol-- take care - keisha " Sales@bargain_hunters_dream " <BHD@...> wrote: Ok guys forgive me! I just got my lab report in the mail. They didn't even check my T3. TSH 0.28 (0.27 - 4.20) FT4 1.35 (.93 - 1.70) Comments from the nurse practioner: I think @ 137 mcg daily this will be too low. Instead try alternating 137/150mcg every other day. I have been on 150mcg synthroid since Oct. 03 until they switched me to 137mcg twice a week back in dec. On 1/22/04 I convinced her to drop me to only 137mcg a week ago because I thought I was having Hyper symptoms and now I get this note today. I am continuing to feel crummy since last Feb so I don't see how that is going to help me. Does anyone else? I really want to try Armour but since I have insurance I would rather get it prescribed if I can, it will be cheaper plus I need to keep getting my tests Please give me good points that I can bring up to my doc on Monday to why I should switch based on my test results. I know a lot of info is out there for me to research and believe me I do, but I have a hard time retaining a lot. Plus it's hard for me to worry about too many things at once. The docs just discovered a lump in my 26 year old brothers prostate and my attentions has been focused on that this last week. What test should I ask him to send me for? Thank you and God bless you all! -Dana
Guest guest
sorry guys at times we all get busy--But these results don't mean a lot---without the correct tests there is not much to go on--and I'll explain--you really must insist on t3 tests--free t3 and t3 as well as free t4 and t4---I'll send links--one shows how much is getting into the cells and what is being produced from the thyroid gland. Ok the tsh ---thyroid stimulating hormone--that shows us what the pitiutary gland is telling the thyroid gland what to produce--but if you are on medication this number doesn't mean a lot because you are giving yourself extra hormone to compenstate for your lack of hormone- (have to to by symptoms) If the tsh is way too low---that is when you have to check out overdosing and a .28 is not too low--the number you want is .80--2 seems to be ok --this number varies for some say .3-3 is ok---but ususally close between 1 and 2 is where you want you tsh to be. Having a .28 might mean you are taking too much t4 and the doctor may say take a tiny bit less. But looking at your T4 here it's in the normal range so this tsh number just means your pituitary gland is not producing much thyroid hormone and why is that it's because you are taking hormones---get the idea??? Your Ft4 which I assume means free t4 is a great number---but that only tells us your thyroid is producing t4 along with taking in your t4 that you give it with your meds---if you have a low t3 number you will feel VERY HYPO---so not knowing any t3 number tells us only that your t4 is ok. my daughter had only low t3 she can't convert t4 into t3 ---just because you can produce t4 does not mean you have enough t3 in your system being absorbed into your cells. Ok I just read that you were having hyper symptoms that can show here with this little dip down to the tsh number of .28---so this is correct for you since you stated feeling hyper---my daughter's tsh is .02 and she has never felt hyper---so this tells us that we have to go by our symptoms much more than test results---and Sheila walks around with a .003---is that right Sheila can't remember right now--- I am sick with a head cold on drugs myself---haha---anyway going by your symptoms is your best bet---if you drop down on your dose your tsh will come back up a bit and you will be ok with the t4 and tsh test--but we still have no idea on t3!!! for all you know you could have a low t3 and not taking medication for that is like not taking any thyroid med at all ---if you have this conversion problem!!! tina > Ok guys forgive me! > I know I just asked on my labs from Dec. Guest guest
Hi Tina, Yes, we certainly do get busy sometimes. I've been meaning to write you and just haven't done it. Hopefully la will get another period soon. We'll keep our fingers crossed! Had NO idea one could tear their chest muscles from stress. Yikes!!! You were dealing with some tuff stuff! Yes...my TSH was like 0.004. Technically hyper but no symptoms. It did go up last time. Take care, lady! Guest guest
Hello Dana.... One thing I can think of if you want to switch to armour from synthroid is that synthroid has been shown to cause bone loss and osteoperosis is a serious problem for women as they get older. Tell your doctor you are concerned about this. Blessings, Loriann > > I just got my lab report in the mail.
