Guest guest
I just got a gallon of raw milk and want to make yogurt. I've never made it before, so I don't have a yogurt maker. I don't have a gas oven, but I do have a heating pad. How reliable is the heating pad method? Would I be better off waiting until I can get a yogurt maker? I can't find any yogurt makers in the local stores, so I will have to order over the internet and wait for it to be shipped. How long does raw milk stay good? Guest guest
Hi Shaina I make yogurt frequently. I decided not to try the heating pad method, or the oven method. I have heard from those people who use either the heating pad or oven to make yogurt like it, and find it works for them. I just waited until the yogurtmaker I ordered online arrived, as I couldn't find any in my local stores either. I haven't bought raw milk before, but I do get organic when I can find it at my local health food store. Sometimes it will last two weeks before curdling or smelling bad. I've found the expiration date on the container is no guarantee that the milk will still be good! So I try to use any milk I buy within a week. Kim M. Guest guest
Kim/Jeanne, Thanks for the advice about making yogurt. I decided to buy a yogurt maker online and wait until I get it to try making yogurt. Its supposed to arrive in less than a week, so I think the milk will still be ok.
