Guest guest
I would agree that your symptoms are not hypo - I don't know enough about adrenal issues - only that I have had them - the biggest symptom for me is not recovering from exercise and I believe this is a common one but I also believe that allergies are an adrenal issue. I also had blood tests come back in the low normal range and then I had a saliva test which showed very low cortisol levels especially in the morning - it really takes a knowledgeable doc to read these tests because if you are low normal they will tell you you're fine and not look any further - whereas low normal for you might be terribly low compared to your healthy levels. Anyway I ended up treating myself with low dose HC - I'm not recommending you do this But I do not feel that the blood tests are an accurate measure. There is a metabolic scorecard which compares adrenal symptoms to thyroid symptoms (both hyper and Hypo I think ) at Dr Rinds website - this is very useful and you will be able to see how severe your symptoms are you add them up at the end. I think it is Drrind.com cheers, Kerry Adrenal vs thyroid I'm taking Synthroid because my routine bloodwork showed a TSH level above the norm; and because 5 or 6 weeks later it showed even higher; increasing from 5.x to 6.x. Based upon a high and increasing TSH my family doctor started me on Synthroid. I haven't been to an endo... ---------- No virus found in this outgoing message. Checked by AVG Anti-Virus. Guest guest
HI Kerry, Can you explain a little further about what you mean by not recovering from exercise? And how long does it take for you to recover from the exercise? thanks Bev Kerry Ann Faithfull <kerry@...> wrote: I would agree that your symptoms are not hypo - I don't know enough about adrenal issues - only that I have had them - the biggest symptom for me is not recovering from exercise and I believe this is a common one but I also believe that allergies are an adrenal issue. Guest guest
HI Bev, when I exercise too strenuously - pretty much anything but gardening and relaxed walking - I get very tired and often achy muscles for anything from two days to several weeks - last week I went to our local outdoor market with a friend - I ended up carrying a bag of vegetables on my shoulder for a couple of hours instead of putting it in the car straight away - the result is that I have had such bad pain in my shoulder I've been taking pain killers for a week - this is the first time I've had to do this - this is what I mean by no recovery. And I often don't see it coming - who would thing that carrying a shoulder bag would be too much? By the way I am not very overweight ...about 15lbs so its not hard for me to get around in any other way and I keep very active in a slow and steady kind of way. Kerry Adrenal vs thyroid I'm taking Synthroid because my routine bloodwork showed a TSH level above the norm; and because 5 or 6 weeks later it showed even higher; increasing from 5.x to 6.x. Guest guest
A competent doctor will treat you based on symptoms. I cannot imagine doing testing every month or even at all. First you need to be treated adequately with enough of the right thyroid med. Then you might need other hormones. Read the Hormone Solution by Thierry Hertoghe MD Gracia > Gracia, > > My hormone levels fluctuate tremendously from one month to the next....how does one know how much to take to cope with these fluctuations ? Blood tests every month ??? I read somewhere that saliva tests are more accurate for hormones...is this true ? > > Fiona > -- No virus found in this outgoing message. Checked by AVG Anti-Virus. Guest guest
" Feeling fat, fuzzy, or frazzled? " by Shames, MD along with other sites recomended in the archives from the active members like and Chuck et al will provide you an informed basis by which your questions can be founded. The endocrine system is understood by very few medical professionals. Understanding that, should a cure or sustaining a " normal life " be your goal, studying the endocrine system better than the doctors do should be the pursuit. --- " L. on " <res075oh@...> wrote: > Early on I checked out adrenal symptoms and came to > the conclusion that > all indications are that I do not have an adrenal > problem. Guest guest
I'm reading the part on the adrenals now; there really seems to be a lot of info here.
