Hi Puneet and Bev

Right now Iam writing this with a feeling of more drowsiness and

dizziness.Normally I will be forced to go to bed 9.30.p.m. itself. But for

no reason I will be forced to get up at 4.00.p.m.I will not see the clock

since that will upset me psychologically.Hence I will just keep my eyes

closed and lie down on the bed till 6.00. a.m.

If my stomoch is empty,I will get vertigo and a feeling of push forward

will be there. After I take a soft drink,I will be better by 50%.I wil take

bath at 7.00.A.M. take my breakfast at 7.45.a.m. and catch the office bus

at 8.25 a.m.My dizzi and drowsi both will start heavily.I will feely

hungry at 10.45hrs itself.I will manage with some buiscuits till 12.15

p.m. when I will take my lunch. After lunch the drowsy and dizzi will

increase.Hence I will be forced to take some rest.

I feel after started taking my thyroxin(50 mcg,the drowsy and dizzi also

started increasing. Will it be true?I have completed 35 days of

dosage.Evening I will take tiffin.Night also I will take night

tiffin. Before going to bed I will take two bananas.

This is my routing.I am not a daibetic(Yesterday also,my blood test

confirmed I am not.But Bev,will banana consumption will induce Guiddiness

or vertigo in the morning.

Puneet and Bev:I expect reply from both of you.

Note:Clarify Applying oil over the hair(Coconut oil or some other hair

oil)will it create more drowsiness?

protein rich food and induce vertigo in the morning?

I have been taking banana just before going to bed for the past 10

years.Green banana(Robusto) is very good for indegestion problems and they

will put up body weight.Since I have lost 8kgs of body weight,I am trying

to maintain the weight only through this banana.

My doctor says,I should have a calory test(to check for any unbalancing

between both ears) in my ears. They will inject chilled water in one of the

ears and wait for the vertigo/guiddiness to come.If that comes, well the

ear is o.k.due to the addition of mass.If vertigo/guiddiness does'nt

come, well there is an unbalance between the two ears which require further

study treatment.

This is my routine.I am not a daibetic(Yesterday also,my blood test

Hi Bramadurai,

Are you in the early stages of being treated as in the first three months? I

have been on Thyroxin since December 04 and I had terrible episodes of

dizziness and vertigo, straight after taking my meds, sometimes after

breakfast. So much so I would just fall asleep until the worst of it passed.

I still get dizzy spells though no where near as bad as before treatment or

since, say in the past month or so.

I tolerate the synthetic hormone well I would say and I wait to eat at least

an hour after meds with no ill effect. Sometimes I eat within the hour and

still do not get the dizziness. I feel even after treatment this problem

exists for some hypo's but mine has certainly got better. It is rather like

the depression that can sometimes come out of no where. My depression

surfaced in February, three months after starting treatment. The depression

too is better, but still haunts me after nearly five months of treatment.

Trust that it will get better.

Hi Bramadura,

Coconut oil will not be the cause of your drowsiness. It is often

recommended for hypo's to help us lose weight and regulate body temperature.

Plus it is a medium chain fat which means it does not sit in your liver

going toxic like hydrogenated vegetable oils and hard animal fats,

interfering with your T3 conversion much of which goes on in the liver.

Liver cleansing may help over time.

HI BR

I'm just starting to get my diet(meaning how I eat) understood, almost. And

what I am understanding is that I need to eat more protein. It sounds like to

me you are eating to much sugar foods and not enough protein. Sugar, meaning,

any white foods(exceptions: like califlower). I fought this for years and the

people that told me such things, but my body is telling differently now, so I'm

trying to listen.

I started taking lipitor for my cholesterol a couple of years ago, then about 9

mos. or so later I was dx hypothyroidism and he gave me synthroid. Imediately, I

started having episodes of , when I would swim and I was into about 30 mins. of

swimming I would start feeling like I had to pee very badly, started shaking

very badly, was a little dizzy and starving, it felt like I was going to die

(literally) if I didn't eat right then.. I was used to swimming for 40 mins.

with no problems at all. So, he took me off the lipitor and I started on high

doses of niaspan (time released niacin) after a few ,months I started having

allergic reaction to it and had to stop that. I didn't take anything for a few

more months and my triglycerides and cholesterol and all of that went way up so

the new med. now is vytorin (for choesterol) I just started my 2 month of it and

so far no side effects that I can notice. I've only been able to make it to

swim 3 times so far and the last time was 32 mins.

and no effect, great, I'm hoping it stays that way at least until I can lose

this weight and take the numbers down. So, what I guess I am saying is it might

not be just the thyroid or just one med. , it could be a combination of all.

take care

HI,

The way I understand the sugar thing is that you can have a sugar problem and

not be diabetic. reactive hypoglycemia and different things like this. And the

test don't pick up on it.

This is my routine.I am not a daibetic(Yesterday also,my blood test

confirmed I am not.But Bev,will banana consumption will induce Guiddiness

or vertigo in the morning.(Does it contain more protein?)

Puneet and Bev:I expect reply from both of you.

Note:Clarify by Applying oil over the hair(Coconut oil or some other hair

oil)will create more drowsiness?

The soft drink you are taking, is it a caffiene drink? If so, it is

the stimulant and sugar in it that are allowing you to continue. This

points to low adrenal function.

Bananas are very high sugar fruits. When the sugar is consumed, used

up, then the sugar levels in the blood can go very low. I would begin

by substituting something else for the bananas. they also have

nutrients that can mess with your heart, too much potassium I think.

Ice cream before bed has helped me to not wake up with a headache the

next morning. Food allergies go along with hypot. You might begin to

investigate leaving off groups of foods or nutrients and see if they

make a difference.

the dizzi and drowsi say the brain is not getting enough of something

to function properly. High proteins, low carbs burn slower so keep a

steady input.

Please research low adrenal function, starting the new thyroid meds

will stress the adrenals more than they have been which will cause many

of these same symptoms. I've had these same symptoms when starting a

new prescription medicine, not for hypot. that has to be adrenal.

Synthroid may contain both gluten and or lactose. Anyone know for

sure? I do better on levoxyl, felt like crap on synthroid. If it does

contain both, I now know why I feel better on the other. I have an

allergic type reaction to all things containing wheat or flour and

sometimes to lactose. Joan

After I take a soft drink,I will be better by 50%.I wil take

Before going to bed I will take two bananas.

Hi BR,

After I have started taking medication, the dizinees and drowsiness has

increased. My head always remains heavy.Though my TSH level is much below what it

was before I started taking synthetic thyroxine,I felt better before and did

not get dizzy.

I hear there is a Homeopatheci substitute called thyroidine for the synthetic

hormone.Though not sure on its reliability.

Hi Puneet,

I too felt the same thing like what you are feeling now.But my endo

says,it will take atleast 3 months of thyroxin medication to bring back to

normalcy.Hence I will have to continue.

Another thing I would like to tell is Air conditioned cold room or winter

is number one enemy for the Hypos.Hence I would suggest the hypos to go

out of the A/c room and wander in the hot sun,get some fresh air so that

we will be re-vitalised.

In Homeopathy there is a medicine called Iodum which can will stimulate

thyroid(not substituting like synthetic thyroxin). However when somebody

has to take homeopathy medicine, one has to stop allopathy completely. It is

all one's confidence level.

Another Indian medicine for similating throid function is Black Thulsi. It

is being sold in Indian Siddha medical shops.Again this depends on one's

confidence level on such medicines.I have not tried any such medicines so

far, since my first priority is to come back to normalcy and then for

permanent cure we can try any of these medicines.

For my morning vertigo,my ENT says,I don't have any problem with my ENT

but it is my Cervical spondylysis that causes vertigo thorugh out the

day.Is that right?Any body is having Hypo coupled with Cervical

spondylysis?Or is Hypothyroid responsibly for such vertigo causing

cervical spondylysis

Throw some light on this subject.

Hi Br,

I don't know very much about it. I have found out about it on the sugar

addiction support group, which I don't believe I'm addicted to sugar. I think

most of my prob. is my thyroid.

I think it has to do with diet mainly. I really don't think there is a test for

it....??not sure.. I have looked it up on search before, but I just can't

remember,,,,,, memory,,, thyroid prob. but, if you look it up on the web you

can find out what it's about.

Since listed the ingredients, the sugar is keeping you

going, if it has caffiene that will add to it, and the vitamins and

minerals are binding to your thyroid meds so that they aren't

working.

You need 4 hours between the thyroid meds and any vitamins to get

the benefits of both. I'm like , I drink water, I have no

electrolyte problem, I do eat extra salt for extra iodine and

sodium. Your body retains fluids when it doesn't have enough sodium

not the other way which I had always been taught.

There are several things you can do at home. My most obvious

symptoms were things like very low blood pressure, low temp, chills

after any kind of stress, even eating certain foods, physically

getting the shakes, headaches.

I have not had many incidences of indigestion since I began thyroid

meds. I used to have them frequently. I would still experiment

with changing what you are eating just before bed. I have read that

a complex carbohydrate is good, I would just switch from the

bananas. I ate extra bananas when I was having some hyper symptoms

and the heart palps just got worse. I would also keep the 4 hours

between anything with extra vitamins or minerals, other than regular

foods, and see if there is a difference. We all have to experiment

to find exactly what works for us. Others can only tell us what

worked for them. Joan

the boost also has milk proteins in it. If you are lactose

intolerant, and I have some problems with lactose, that could also

be causing some problems. I would be concerned about the high

levels of sugars. Joan

T4 converts to T3 through the thyroid itself, and the larger organs in your

body, like your liver and kidneys, but especially the liver.
