Has she been evaluated by an endocrinologist? Guest guest Posted February 23, 2004 Report Share Posted February 23, 2004 Yes, I was tried on the 's protocol. This protocol is to take you off T4 then start back on T3 only. For me the T3 made a huge difference - I got warmer, happier and actually had an appetitite. But, I had to add some T4 back because T3 is so short acting. Because of the variance in dose, the lack of T4 gave me a very bad attack of joint pain. [Maybe he/she/they're on vacation?] I believe you're indicating that Eltroxin is for humans and is very cheap? I've just been diagnosed as hypo and put on Synthroid 50 mg. Guest guest Posted June 18, 2008 Report Share Posted June 18, 2008 Hi We usually recommend that members ask their GP to write on their prescription 'Eltroxin' rather than just 'levothyroxine'. With Levothyroxine, a pharmacist will give you any brand, and quite probably change the brand at each prescription renewal. With Eltroxin, a pharmacist has to give you that brand only. It has less problems than other brands and people appear to tolerate it better. Never allow your brand to change - there can be p;otency problems, as there has been in the past with the American brands of thyroxine. Why are you having to buy Eltroxin. Have you not got a diagnosis from your GP - do you have your last blood test results, and if so, p;ost them here for us, together with the reference ranges for each test. What symptoms are you suffering. Sorry if you have told us all this before, I am having a day when nothing stays in my head for long (too busy) and not much time to go back looking through previous messages.
