Omega Nutrition is actually based in Vancouver, BC Canada, I believe.

There is a website at:

http://www.omeganutrition.com/

The page on coconut oil (100% Certified Organic) is:

http://www.omeganutrition.com/

Cost is $7.95 for 16 ounces and $12.95 for 32 ounces. You can order

online or by phone at 1-800-661-3529. There is a $30.00 minimum order.

It is odor-free -- I like the product for cooking. I've been using it

for a couple years. We also sell it at my wife's Thai cooking school

and have introduced quite a few people to coconut oil via this product.

If you are interested I could try to find out more about processing,

etc.

It was actually a pamphlet from Omega that got me started on coconut

oil. They have a couple good basic articles online at:

http://www.omeganutrition.com/articles-featured-resurgence.php

and

http://www.omeganutrition.com/articles-other-agoodfat.php

,

Thank you for the info. I have written to them asking where I could buy

their coconut oil at my place. I already use their flaxseed oil but had no

idea about them selling the coconut oil as well.

I should have tought about it myself, but well I did not.

The one I use for the moment is only written Pure on the jar. It is

probably refined and surely not organic. The Extra Virgin Coconut Oil I got

from a health food store is 24.00$ for a 500 g of coconut oil. It may be

good but I cannot afford it.

Hi, I was in touch with the omeganutrition website and they don't offer any

service for Canadians. : -(

I have found a store in Canada that offers The Omega nutrition oil at a good

price.

Their price was $14.99 Canadian dollars each for the 2 pound size jar. I ordered

6 and they pay the postage.

This was the best price I could find on the internet for any coconut oil that's

not RBD.

The supplier I ordered from was: http://www.feelgoodnatural.com/

I think they do international shipments from what I read in their shipping

information on their web site.

Peace, Bruce.

A strong medium or mild aroma?

thanks!

Dear Jackie,

I've used Omega Nutrition and it tastes similar to all the others. I would

put in the " medium " flavor category (it has a slight smokey undertone), and the

" medium " aroma category.

Note: They have two coconut oils, one being " Virgin " which I recommend... if

it's convenient and the price is right ya know. I recently ordered the

Puritan Pride and I'm curious as to how it's going to pan out.

I hope that helps,

PS I bought Herbs of Life Extra Virgin Coconut Oil a couple of weeks ago and

it's by far the best tasting coconut oil I've ever slapped a lip on! The

best word I can use to describe it is " delicate " . Wowiee Zowiee it was good

(and

expensive). Even my wife couldn't believe it. She's not a big fan of taking

a big spoonful of coconut oil, but she enjoyed this one.

:o)

now that's a great recommendation!

Thanks for the info about Omega Nutrition coconut oil, . I've not

heard of the " Herbs of Life " brand...I'll look it up and include it in

the coconut oil resource list that I'm compiling.

thanks again!

==>Jackie, I've used a lot of Omega Nutrition coconut oil!! In fact

that's all I used for over 2 years, not only because others were not

available here in Calgary, but also because it was less expensive

than those that became available, i.e. Garden of Life, when I had

less money.

==>To me Omega Nutrition has no taste at all and no aroma - in fact

it is called " aroma free " in their literature. But I have found that

different jars have varied in quality and color. That bothers me

because I do not know why. Most jars I've bought have been totally

white, while others were slightly yellow to almost brown. I also

don't find it is as smooth as Garden of Life or Tropical Traditions -

I believe it's overall quality is less.

However, I don't believe it is bad - it's hard to destroy coconut oil

if it is not refined or deoderized, etc. In fact Bruce Fife does

endorse Omega Nutrition - there is an article about Omega Nutrition

in our " Coconut Oil " Folder.

thanks for the info, Bee. Precisely because that article is in the

files I wanted someone's direct experience of using it so I could have

the info for the resource list I'm pulling together. I appreciate your

response on it as well as 's. Thanks.
