Dear Bee-

Thanks for the wonderful site you have started here. I'm really

getting into this diet thing and have been able to avoid cheating

because the weight is flying off and I know if I get this under

control in a few months I might be able to enjoy some treats I'm

missing, like cocktails at my 40th birthday, without being in agony

for weeks/months/years later.

I'm seeing my doctor today. Actually, this is my dermatologist and

I'm going to insist on prescriptions for several alternating rounds

of antifungals. He is the one who got the yeast infection where it is

today by loading me up on steroids, so he is the one who is going to

write the correct scripts to fix it. We have a great relationship

and he trusts my opinion and ability to research and take

responsibility for my health, so I'm sure he will go along with my

wishes, and might even be excited to learn something in the process.

I am concerned about other parasites in the gut and would like to

know what you feel are the best ways to treat them.

My symptoms are calming down, except for the itching in the groin and

one spot on my wrist. I've found it interesting that as I progress

through this, the symptoms that appeared last seem to be the first to

leave. This all started with severe vaginal itching which was later

diagnosed as lichen sclerosis, but I really do not believe that's

what it is, I think the yeast infection has settled in the vulvar

skin.

My doc is also really hot to get me to take hydroxychloroquine, which

is an antimalarial that he says will boost the immune system. I have

the pills but have never been able to bring myself to take them. One

of the side effects, albeit incredibly rare, is that it blows out the

retinas. It probably wouldn't happen, but I've had some pretty funky

reactions to all these drugs I've been put on, so I'm not all that

interested in taking chances with my eyesight. Have you heard of this

drug as an immune system booster?

I haven't been able to locate the recipe for homemade yougurt yet.

Where might I find it?

Thanks for all your help!!

Echinacea is also a good immune booster. Do a Google search to find more

Herbs/plants having this effect.

Parasites? It all depends on how you react to them. If they don't bother you,

why bother? Different people react differently/ One of my friends is an

expert for the EU in Latin America; She has traveled extensively in all

countries

of Central America and South America, and never suffered seriously from

parasites. However, some people who go to Mexico come back seriously sick with

major diarrhea, and other painful symptoms. In that case, you have no choice but

to get rid of those critters.

Hi Irene,

One of the best immune boosters is coconut oil. I have read of HIV

patients taking huge amounts and it helps them. The medium chain

fatty acids in coconut oil strengthen the immune system.

I will always choose a whole food over a powerful drug, except in

extreme life saving situations or extreme pain. I think you aer

showing good judgement by not taking a drug that could imjure your

eyesight. That is scary.

By eliminating refined sugars and damaged fats(hydrogenated)from your

diet you are taking a huge step toward boosting your immune system.

The candida diet on this web site is very healthy. There are immune

booster's like kombucha and other super foods, but they are something

you might want to look into when you are feeling better.

Try not to worry about parasites. It will not help your healing to

worry about such yucky little creatures! I am not convinced parasites

are all that awful. I really don't think we know their purpose.

Anyway I suppose others may disagree on this point, after all who

would really like to think they could possibly have a positive

purpose. I am sure too many of them would not be a healthy situation.

I understand they are often very hard to detect with a stool

analyisis, but the amount of candida shows up clearly.

You will need to locate raw milk before you make fresh homemade

yogurt. Have you found some? There are a lot of recipes on the www. I

think it is easiest, IMO, to get a yogurt maker. Some are inexpense

and simple to use. There are many types on the market. I prefer one

which makes a large batch compared to the litte cup types. It is a

personal preference.

If you want to make yogurt in a gallon jar, (that's one heck of a lot

of yogurt) it is possible to do. If you decide you want large amounts

write back and I'll see if I can find a method to make it somewhere

in my files.

I'm sure Bee and others will have more to add to your important

questions.

It sounds like you are off to a great start toward recovery. Way to

go!

Dear Pattie,

>>>Thanks for the wonderful site you have started here.

==>You are so welcome Pattie. I'm very pleased that you are getting

a lot from it. It makes my efforts and time worthwhile when people

like you seriously follow the recommendations, and then you regain

your health for life.

>>>I'm really getting into this diet thing and have been able to

avoid cheating because the weight is flying off

==>The diet does have good side affects, like losing weight, eh?

Good for you Pattie.

>>>and I know if I get this under control in a few months I might be

able to enjoy some treats I'm missing, like cocktails at my 40th

birthday, without being in agony for weeks/months/years later.

==>It's awful to not be able to even have one cocktail without being

sick isn't it?

>>>I'm seeing my doctor today. Actually, this is my dermatologist and

I'm going to insist on prescriptions for several alternating rounds

of antifungals.

==>Like Sheila wrote, there aare some very harsh antifungals that can

cause liver damage. The only prescription I would recommend is

Nystatin powder.

>>>I am concerned about other parasites in the gut and would like to

know what you feel are the best ways to treat them.

==>Like Sheila wrote, please don't be concerned about parasites.

They will take care of themselves as you get your digestion and

immune system up to par. I believe a healthy body handles parasites

just fine without outside intervention, except in extreme cases.

Focusing on getting the candida under control is key. I had a M.D.

guiding me through my candida program 18 years ago and she didn't

address the parasite issue.

However I was fortunate to get vitamin and mineral shots in her

office, which were big immune system boosters. I also had a candida

allergy shot, made by her nurse in her office - according to Dr.

Orion Truss' instructions. Now I'm taking candida homeopathy drops.

>>>My symptoms are calming down, except for the itching in the groin

and one spot on my wrist. I've found it interesting that as I

progress through this, the symptoms that appeared last seem to be the

first to leave.

==>That is very interesting. It follows Herings Law of Cures as I

wrote in my Candida article. Symptoms disappear in the order they

appeared and take one month of natural healing for every year of

illness. You also heal from the inside out and from the top down.

>>This all started with severe vaginal itching which was later

diagnosed as lichen sclerosis, but I really do not believe that's

what it is, I think the yeast infection has settled in the vulvar

skin.

==>Douching is very effective in getting into all the folds and

creases. Are you following the article I wrote on treating vaginal

yeast?

>>>My doc is also really hot to get me to take hydroxychloroquine,

One of the side effects, albeit incredibly rare, is that it blows out

the retinas. Have you heard of this drug as an immune system booster?

==>I haven't heard of that drug and like Sheila I would always choose

whole foods, herbs and spices over drugs. The diet is most important

for boosting the immune system. I also took a range of good

supplements, including oils, and had nystatin and acidophilus enemas

and douches, and for my liver I had coffee enemas.

>>>I haven't been able to locate the recipe for homemade yougurt yet.

Where might I find it?

==>I'll have to post one, but I think someone else has posted it in a

message.

>>Thanks for all your help!!

==>I'm glad I can help. The most important thanks I can receive is

you and others overcoming this beast, and staying on a life-long

healthy diet.

I wish you the best.

Interesting that you would say the symptoms disappear with the latest

ones first. One of my latest ones was extreme itching deep in my ears

and that is all but gone. The vaginal itching is horrid today and I'm

hoping that is my own special treat from the start of real die off. I

have found that there is a really nice vitamin E ointment from GNC

that calms the itching down more than anything else for me. And it

seems to heal the skin too.

I'm working on quitting smoking too, but the last few work days have

been less than conducive towards that end. And I did slip off the no-

coffee wagon today because I had so little sleep last night with work

obligations. Which could also be the reason I'm itching like crazy.

I was tied up at work and had to reschedule the dermatology

appointment. I've taken a lot of diflucan -- is this one of the ones

that causes liver damage?

I have also located a local dairy which has only free range grain fed

cows with no supplements. They sell an out-of-this world good tasting

plain yogurt in a one-quart glass bottle and I'm hoping that it is

adequate for these purposes. After reading the posts on how to make

yogurt, I'm going to call them and see if they do the same.

I made this incredible salad dressing with a couple of tablespoons of

yogurt, some dill leaves, garlic and sea salt. VERY yummy... way

better than store bought buttermilk ranch.

I also made a scrumptious white bean chili tonight and my family

slurped it up right along with me.

I can't thank you enough for all the hard work you have put in here.

Dear Pattie,

>>>Interesting that you would say the symptoms disappear with the

latest ones first. One of my latest ones was extreme itching deep in

my ears and that is all but gone.

===>When I ran the Candida Support Group in the 80s I found that

everyone's symptoms followed Hering's Law of Cures when they

faithfully followed the candida program.

>>>The vaginal itching is horrid today and I'm hoping that is my own

special treat from the start of real die off. I have found that there

is a really nice vitamin E ointment from GNC that calms the itching

down more than anything else for me. And it seems to heal the skin

too.

==>Good for you on finding something that works good.

>>>I've taken a lot of diflucan -- is this one of the ones

that causes liver damage?

===>Yes. Coffee enemas are terrific for the liver. There's a

separate article on them in the files.

>>>I have also located a local dairy which has only free range grain

fed cows with no supplements.

==>However, free-range and grain fed is a contradiction. Free-range

cows eat fresh grass, whereas grain feeding is against their

herbivore eating habits and ruins their digestion. ??

>>I made this incredible salad dressing with a couple of tablespoons

of yogurt, some dill leaves, garlic and sea salt. VERY yummy... way

better than store bought buttermilk ranch.

==>Sounds very good.

>>>I also made a scrumptious white bean chili tonight and my family

slurped it up right along with me.

===>With your symptoms you might go easy on the beans. They are a

starch and act just like sugar, feeding the candida. Did you pre-

soak them?

>>>I can't thank you enough for all the hard work you have put in

here.

==>But you can thank me enough my friend. You can continue to get

better and better, and beat this beast. Okay?

Warm fuzzies to you,

Bee

**** I'll check out the coffee enemas... I guess there's more than

one way to get my coffee buzz... My husband will be horrified when he

sees where I put his Gevalia :-)

***I mispoke-- I meant grass fed

*** The were canned organic great northern beans... so they were

soaking in something when I opened them, does that count? I only used

one can for the entire pot because my son hates beans, so I don't

think I really got all that many... but I will watch it.

Hello

I have often made yogurt using non-fat, non-instant powdered milk and

culture from a regular grocery store brand of yogurt. Is that OK, if

I use a good culture instead? Especially if I allow it to culture for

48 hours instead of the usual 24? I don't have access to any milk

except goat milk. And my sis-in-law's goats have some kind of retro

virus specific to goats. The milk is supposed to be safe for humans

and they do drink it, but it still gives me pause.

BTW, in the summer, I just sterilize my quart glass containers and

fill it with the " brew " and set it out in the garage. In winter, I

put them inside the oven. I used to have a pilot light that kept it

at the perfect temperature, but since I have an electric start oven

now, there is no pilot and it still turns out fine. I turn on the

oven for a minute or two before I put them in, and then turn it off.

I like to used at least some powdered milk because it makes it come

out thicker.

Of course, it ISN'T milk's natural state, having been processed. But

the culture would still be there, and naturally produced. And I could

make yogurt cheese, which makes me feel like I'm having something good.
