Guest guest
Pre-candida diet, my sons ate lots of fresh fruits, fresh vegetables (especially peas loaded with fiber), gluten-free graines and minimal meat (2 small servings a day). Now it seems that meat is all they are eating...and they are no longer able to have regular bowel movements which is not healthy at all! How can you get fiber?!?!? They are eating romaine lettuce, cucumbers, green peppers, celery, green beans and broccoli for their vegetables. My 8 year old also eats raw onions. We have a beef day, turkey day, chicken day and bison day. They won't eat any seafood except scallops which is breakfast on beef day. I'm frustrated...they have been on the diet for 2.5 weeks and are " starving " as they say. I've been on it with them and have to say that I'm hungry..I'm bigger, but they are more active. I'm not necessarily craving sugars or carbs, just hungry. I gave them some psyllium husk in water today, but that did not work. My older son still had a difficult bowl movmeent and my 5 year has not had one all day! He has been eating a ton of meat. I'm worried about their health!! Please, any ideas?!? Thanks Kim

Guest guest
Thanks Juli...he is taking magnesium...more than his recommended dose b/c his body does not utilize its nutrients...he also takes over 2,000 mgs of vit c a day. > > > Pre-candida diet, my sons ate lots of fresh fruits, > > fresh vegetables (especially peas loaded with > > fiber), gluten-free graines and minimal meat (2 > > small servings a day). To help with constipation add healthy fat to their diet and have them drink more water. > How can you get fiber?!?!? That's wonderful and provides PLENTY of fiber. Lucky your kids eat their veggies! You do not need more fiber than what is in your veggies. > We have a beef day, turkey day, chicken day and > bison day. They won't eat any seafood except > scallops which is breakfast on beef day. I don't eat seafood either except shrimp and canned tuna (not any more because of mercury). Fish is so healthy I wish I could eat it. I have tried it cooked different ways and it just makes me gag. > I'm frustrated...they have been on the diet for > 2.5 weeks and are " starving " as they say. Give them more fat... add tons of butter to their veggies, saute their meat in coconut oil, etc. It will help them be satiated. Often when your body's engine is converting to using carbs for fuel to instead using fat for fuel there is a period of time where you get more hungry as you haven't switched " tanks " yet, so to speak. > I gave them some psyllium husk in water today, but > that did not work. My older son still had a > difficult bowl movmeent and my 5 year has not had > one all day! He has been eating a ton of meat. I'm > worried about their health!! Having more bowel movements more often is NOT healthy at all, and here's why. Waste products that are in feces are composed of materials that the body CAN'T use. Ever notice on this diet that you have less fecal matter? This is because your body is actually USING all the parts of the food you give it - the protein for building and repairing muscles, the fat for energy, the vitamins and minerals, etc., except perhaps maybe small amounts of fiber. Ever notice how often you poop on a high carb diet? This is because you are feeding your body tons of food where the majority of the parts of the food your body can't use. Not only is most of the food unusable by the body but it often has anti-nutrients (potatoes and grains) that block your body from absorbing minerals and vitamins. So add more fat to their diet and have them drink more water, and give it a bit of time as the constipation thing will work itself out. That fat and water act as lubrication for all your body's engine parts, including the bowel. Hope that helps.. Guest guest
Oh yes, I have noticed this big time. I must admit I have been a bit worried about it though - I wrote in a post last week that I am a bit constipated, and even when I do go there doesn't seem to be anywhere near as much as I would expect at all. So logically thinking, that makes sense, and is a bit of a relief to hear it's perfectly normal and also not just me it happens to! They are eating romaine lettuce, cucumbers, green peppers, celery, green beans and broccoli for their vegetables. My 8 year old also eats raw onions. ==>Information about the body requiring fibres from any carbs is totally false - see the files for articles on Fibre to understand why. > We have a beef day, turkey day, chicken day and bison day. I'm worried about their health!! ==>Pysllium is not good to have - see the file on it. They shouldn't overeat on meats either. They should be eating a balanced diet, but more fats will help a great deal. Give them extra vitamin C or magnesium to get their bowels moving and add more good fats - also ensure their digestion is up to par by having them take lemon juice and ocean sea salt in water. See the Digesiton Folder for help with constipation, etc. Bee

Make sure you keep yourself well lubricated with lots of oil and water though.. it will help you keep what little pebbles you do get moving. Many people are brainwashed by the media who make it seem like you have to have like a million grams of fiber a day or you'll die of colon cancer or that you have to eat low fat, but it's just not true. It's hard to shake off the images and ideas that the media pound into our heads and play on our fears. But think about it like this. Have you ever seen those commercials for fiber pills where they say you have to eat like 80 heads of lettuce or 50 pounds of broccoli to get this much fiber, and they show someone gnawing on a raw piece of broccoli? Did you ever think that if you have to eat that much broccoli and natural foods to get that much fiber, than maybe it's not *natural* for humans to eat that much fiber? If you switch to a " premium " food, there is less waste. so, I guess we are eating a " premium " diet now, aren't we?! <grin> jackie

In fact, there is a special diet for dogs called BARF (Bones and Raw Food) which I fed my dog in her elderly years when I learned about it. She was extremely overweight and she lost 20 pounds in a year to goal weight and her arthritis got a lot better. You basically feed the dog similar to what they eat in the wild - trying to simulate raw meat carcasses. You give them a little bit of each part of a rabbit, chicken, what ever, and raw bones to gnaw on, as well as small amounts of veggie matter (what they would eat in the stomach contacts of their prey). Of course this is highly off topic but just further evidence that getting back to natural eating heals us, just as the anti-candida diet prescribed by Bee does. If you are interested here are a few links and you can also do a search on for " barf diet " . There is also a similar diet for cats and many support groups on . http://www.njboxers.com/faqs.htm http://www.barfworld.com/ http://www.rawlearning.com/rawfaq.html http://touchmoon.com/dotters/raw/index.shtml BARF-lite/ Luv, Debby San , CA Website for my son Hunter Hudson, born 10/11/04: http://debbypadilla.0catch.com/hunter/
