Guest guest
I buy my shredded coconut from Wilderness Family Naturals in Northern Minnesota. I wonder if they ship to Canada? They have the best dessicated coconut chips and freeze dried coconut that I have ever tasted. A large 2.5 pound bag of unsweetened dried coconut is around 7 bucks. www.wildernessfamilynaturals.com -------------- Original message -------------- There is one local store I shop at that has raw bulk foods. It's where I get my buckwheat flour, millet, quinoa, etc. They have shredded coconut with NOTHING added. It's great! Try to find a store that sells bulk foods in your area and see if they have shredded coconut. Guest guest
Hi Irene, I'm certainly no expert, but I DO buy and use shredded coconut. Since I buy mine in smaller quanties, I just put it in the freezer. Perhaps you could do that with yours by putting it in smaller bags. Blessings, Sunny From: Irene Francisco <meandmy2cats@...> Subject: Shredded coconut Coconut Oil Date: Saturday, July 4, 2009, 7:20 AM I just bought a large bag 5 lbs of shredded coconut as I have found that it keeps me normal intestinally and solves an ongoing problem but there is nothing on the bag that tells me how to keep it, should I freeze it or will it keep OK in the bottom drawer of the frig? Help does anyone know. Irene - meandmy2cats@ gmail.com

Guest guest
I'm using the values for dessicated coconut (not sweetened) from the USDA Food Search database, version SR21. The online version is at http://www.nal.usda.gov/fnic/foodcomp/search/ and the downloadable database program is at http://www.ars.usda.gov/Services/docs.htm?docid=5720. Manufacturer's labels are approximations and never give me all the information I'm looking for. > > From: diana <gdiana07gmail (DOT) com> > Subject: [coconut_oil_ open_forum] Re: Shredded coconut > coconut_oil_ open_forum > Date: Sunday, July 19, 2009, 12:11 PM > > > > > > > > > > > > > where can i get dessicated coconut chips? i live in san diego if that helps for a location. > > > > diana > > > > > >> > >> From: Irene Francisco <meandmy2cats@ ...> > >> Subject: [coconut_oil_ open_forum] Shredded coconut > >> coconut_oil_ open_forum > >> Date: Saturday, July 4, 2009, 1:20 PM > >> > >> > >> > >> > >> > >> > >> > >> > >> > >> > >> > >> > >> > >> > >> > >> > >> > >> I just bought a large bag 5 lbs of shredded coconut as I have found > >> > >> that it keeps me normal intestinally and solves an ongoing problem but > >> > >> there is nothing on the bag that tells me how to keep it, should I > >> > >> freeze it or will it keep OK in the bottom drawer of the frig? Guest guest
Thanks. 100 gram portion has far too many carbs for me, but I suspect one would never eat anywhere near 100 grams in a day. How many grams do you eat in a day? Carbohydrate, by difference 23.65g Fiber, total dietary 16.3g Sugars, total 7.35g Alobar On Mon, Jul 20, 2009 at 10:01 AM, Ed T<eterrys@...> wrote: > I'm using the values for dessicated coconut (not sweetened) from the USDA Food Search database, version SR21. Guest guest
I usually eat about 50g dessicated coconut a day, spread out over the course of an 8 hr period which is less than 4 grams of sugar. I keep my carbs to about 70g a day for maintenance. > I'm using the values for dessicated coconut (not sweetened) from the USDA Food Search database, version SR21.
