Guest guest
Hi Bee and Everyone, I did a search of messages but didn't find anything on this subject (although I'm pretty sure you've talked about it.) For several months I've been having terrible insomnia and night sweats. I take extra Vitamin E and, although it helps for the hot flushes, it hasn't particularly helped with my sleep. And, believe me!, I've tried everything in the natural get-to-sleep department. I know you disapprove of hormone replacement therapy through other peripheral discussions we've had in the past. And I know that HRT is very controversial for all sorts of reasons but I'd just like to be reminded why it is specifically bad for Candida sufferers. Thank you! ~Robin
Guest guest
Thanks for asking Robin. There are many reasons that HRT is not good, even for healthy women, but for women with candida it is particularly harmful. Firstly it is a drug, and like any drugs it is foreign to the body which tax and depress the immune system and overwork the liver. Secondly there have been studies done on pigs using HRT and it made their heart's seize. At the time I heard it on a tape called " The Estrogen Deception " and I was on HRT. I was shocked that the symptoms I was experiencing could be heart seizures - I thought it was heart-burn caused by my hiatus hernia. Needless to say I went off HRT and had no more seizures. Lo? Menopause is treated as if it is a disease when it is not. It is a natural transition in life and the body is well equipped to handle it if given a good diet. Our bodies are designed to take over hormone production during menopause. But I can't explain this any better than they do at Weston A. Price - for women entering menopause please check out the articles at: http://www.westonaprice.org/women/women.html Also, one of the articles is called " Mammography Madness. " I think the title tells all eh? I've also never had a mammogram and I never will. My hot flashes were handled by taking Vitamin E too. But sleep problems aren't necessarily a " menopause related " symptom/problem. I still have trouble sleeping off and on. But a friend of mine, Steve, has severe sleep problems and he isn't going through menopause. lol! I think that candida causes sleep problems too, and he has candida but doesn't want to admit it yet. I am gradually getting him onto the candida program though. Again, shooting off into different directions treating hormone problems, thyroid problems, liver problems, etc. all caused by candida is counterproductive and won't help until the candida is cured. Candida makes all of the cells rigid so hormones cannot get into them, so it is false to think our bodies are not producing what we need. Cure candida and stay on a healthy diet similar to the candida one and your hormones will normalize. Guest guest
Hi Bee, I hate to muddling things up here, but I have hot flashes which I somewhat control with herbals(no soy). I used to be on a natural (plant based, not horse urine) sublingual type of HRT. I hated to see it leave my life, but 10 years was long enough, or so my doctor thought. Now I get the flahes every evening and in the wee hours of the morning. I am trying different herbal combinations in the hopes of solving this sleep disruptive problem. I tried vitamin E at the 8o0 mg level to no avail. You are fortunate vitamin E helped you. Do you think more would be better for me? How much? Do you still take it? Currently I am taking Menocaps (3 caps after a bit of food before breakfast and dinner). They help quite a bit, but as I said, not enough. Guest guest
Dear Sheila my friend, You never muddle things up at all. No worries. I still take 800 IU vitamin E, as well as cod liver oil (I take less in the summer along with fish oil) - there's some vitamin E in the CLO as well - I have Garden of Life Icelandic CLO. Sheila, did you try breaking up the doses, even taking 200 IUs 4 times a day, or 400 IUs twice a day. If you did, maybe add 400 IU a day and see if that helps you. It can take up to month to make a difference. Also, have you done dry skin brushing for your adrenals. Sometimes getting the adrenals flowing good can help with hot flashes too. But you do a lot of walking and do exercises to, don't you? That also helps the adrenals. Walking and breathing deeply but slowly with each step helps. Sheila you do so many healthful things and are not afraid of exercise, etc. so maybe because of the stress you've been under it may just take more time. You got some great news lately and that will help you a tremendous amount too. Each of your wins in your art and your life will take you a step closer to your " ideal " body. I believe it will normalize more and more as you get further away from the stresses. You are doing everything right my friend. Keep up the good work and if my ideas help, or not, let me know. Hey but you are really sweating in Oregon aren't you? My sister said it read 108 degrees inside her car last week. lo? That's brutal. From cooler in Calgary (we've been around 80 and less). It's wonderful weather for swimming in our pool. Ahhh. Come see me and you can swim too. lol!
