Guest guest
Jeanette, I'm here. Having lots of knee pain. Just want go away. I have a brace for my l knee but not my r one. I can switch it out if I need to, but the problem is that I am at the point I need one for each knee. My insurance doesn't cover " assistance devices " . Three years ago when I bought the brace I have it cost $65.00, so I'm trying to figure out where I'm gonna get the money to buy a brace for my r knee. I've got to have one and soon. I've got the cane out and when I use that, my wrists flare within days. I did hear from my insurance rep and he assures me that BCBS (Blue Cross Blue Shield) will pay for my Remicade. Just waiting on the paper trail to follow his promise. He made my day, just hope to get the " official " word soon. Actually this afternoon right at 5:00 on the dot my phone rang and it was my RD's office just as my hubby answered it they got disconnected. I called right back and the damn answering service had kicked in, automatically, so I'm on pins and needles until in the am when I can call and find out why they were calling me. Keep you fingers, eyes or whatever crossed for me, please. Hope Ed get's home soon. How are you doing today? Any better? Tery - FL
Guest guest
Hi Tery: Glad to hear from you. Gosh you sound miserable. I hope you get that Remicade this week and it kicks in real fast. Then you won't need any knee braces or canes. I feel so bad for you. You are not working are you? If you are, you are quite a trooper. I am really doing quite well other than feeling dreary and lonely today. The weather has been crumby all day and I have been keeping in contact with Ed by car phone. The real bad weather seems to be south of us right now so he should be walking in the door any time. You take care of yourself and stay off your knees or should I say feet? LOL Now don't take it that way.....I did not mean it like that. Oh that mind of yours Tery!!! LOL Let us know right away when you hear anything and let us know how you are doing tomorrow. I will be here to cheer you up ok? Guest guest
Jenna: You received bad information before your surgery. I would let them know about that so somebody else doesn't have to go through what you did. A well informed patients is a happy patient. Guest guest
I'm here - sort of. I had my lazar eye surgery today to correct the problems with the new lenses from the cataract surgery. Lazar was weird. They simply numb the eye and then start snapping the lazar. All I heard was clicking, felt no pressure or pain or anything. But afterward, it was like trying to see through heavy wax paper. I was scared to be truthful. I was afraid that it wouldn't get better. I had to drive home and that was scary enough the way it was. I didn't have a ride because I didn't expect it to be like that. Then I had to go back to the doc office to have the pressure checked. So, again in the car. My eye is slowly, very slowly starting to clear but it's still like looking through wax paper. I tell you, I now know exactly how it feels to be almost blind. Guest guest
Jeanette, No they didn't tell me it would be so blurry. And they also didn't tell me you have to pay to park in the hospital parking garage now. That torked me. I turned around and parked across the street. I am not going to pay for parking to have surgery. That sucks. Tery, I can emphathize with you about hurting someplace, then starting to hurt other places when trying to protect the place that hurt in the first place! ARGH! Guest guest
Hi Jenna, hope your eyes clear soon. I am surprised they didn't tell you that you are not supposed to drive after the procedure.I would have been scared as well not being able to see. I have a friend that had this done and went through the same thing, but has no trouble seeing now and she is also diabetic. Well everyone I had my appt with my rheumy today and Iwas with him for 1-1/2 hrs. He is starting me on Arava, providing my plan covers it and he is getting me set up with a meeting with Dr. Ed Keystone. I am very excited about this as I have attended a lot of his lectures and never thought I could get in to see him. My joints are all very swollen and red, blood tests show a lot of activity,so Dr. Keystone is my last chance since I have been on every med out there and had to come off because of bad side effects. I am also seeing a plastic surgeon in October about the nodules on the underside of my arm. Until now, they have never hurt but they are very large and inflamed. All in all,I felt some satisfaction when I left his office. My hubby just brought me a big dish of ice creamcovered in hot fudge and sliced banana so I should feel better within minutes LOL. We were both up with girl last night until about 3am. Lightening and thunder terrifies her. Usually she will settle down if Don takes her downstairs to the rec room but for some reason she wanted me there as well. Have a good night everyone.
