Guest guest
This is from " How to Successfully Overcome Candida " article (in the 1st folder in our files): Die-off symptoms & how to handle them Initially when the diet is changed, eliminating foods that feed the candida, the candida starts to die off. These reactions and symptoms are called " die-off " symptoms. When the numbers of candida begin to depopulate the person feels the effects of that " die-off " which manifests as " withdrawal symptoms " . Their cravings for sugar, carbohydrates, alcohol, grains, etc. will increase. At times it may make a person feel like they are starving. " Die-off " symptoms also include a cleansing reaction, which produces " flu-like " symptoms. This is because the body is trying to deal with the large numbers of toxins being released by the dead candida. Therefore mucus secretions will increase, in the sinuses, nose, throat and lungs. Flu-like symptoms will also include muscle and joint aches and pains, clumsiness, and headaches, including " brain fog " and a feeling of being " spaced out " . Often the person feels like they are drugged, with symptoms similar to a bad hangover. This is because candida toxins do cause hangover-type symptoms because it releases high numbers of alcohol throughout the system, particularly felt in the head. When high numbers of candida are being killed off symptoms experienced while candida was out of control may intensify. This is different person to person, depending upon the areas of their bodies most affected by candida overgrowth. For women who have had vaginal yeast infection they will find these symptoms will become more intense. For someone with digestive problems their digestive upsets and disturbances will increase. If someone had a lot of head related symptoms they will experience these symptoms becoming worse. And so on and so on. " Die-off " symptoms are called the Herxheimer reaction, which is caused by the rapid killing of candida and other harmful microorganisms, with large quantities of yeast toxins, cell particles, and antigens being released into the bloodstream and the entire body. Symptoms very often get worse before they get better. For severe die-off symptoms or for severe digestive problems try this mild treatment. While doing this treatment do not take any antifungals, probiotics or supplements. Day One - Consume plenty of clear, salted meat and vegetable broth (salted with an ocean sea salt like Celtic). Take no solid foods. Take two enemas each day of clear, room temperature warm purified water only. These help to physically remove a substantial amount of yeast present in the large colon. Day Two - Add solid foods; they should be only protein, fats and low carbohydrate vegetables. Cook and highly puree all foods in a blender to maximize absorption, thus minimizing the food residue in the intestines. Take two enemas each day as described in Day One above. Day Three – Have cooked pureed foods as described in Day Two above, and gradually add more and more solid foods each day over the next five days until you are completely back on a solid food diet. Day Six - You also start adding probiotics, antifungals and supplements. Your die-off symptoms will be much less after this treatment. Die-off symptoms can also be alleviated by the following: - Vitamin C - take 4,000 mgs when the symptoms start to appear, and 1,000 mgs every hour until the symptoms subside, or bowel tolerance is reached, i.e. loose stools or diarrhea. Vitamin C helps the body detoxify since it is a powerful antioxidant. - Ensure you are taking enough calcium/magnesium according to the supplements listed above. Cal/mag helps to minimize aches and pains. - Take baths with epsom salts, salt or 35% food grade hydrogen peroxide. Baths help draw toxins out through the skin and it helps minimizes die-off symptoms. Add two cups, or 500 grams, of Epsom salts or one cup of salt to the bath. Use 1/2 cup of 35% food grade hydrogen peroxide in 1/2 of a bathtub with very warm water. Sit and soak until you sweat. - Clove tea or clove oil (caution; some people cannot tolerate it). Cloves are an excellent powerful antioxidant, and therefore it is a great detoxifier which also contains a natural antibiotic, and it is also antifungal. To make clove tea: Boil 4 ½ cups of water; take off the heat and add two level teaspoons of ground cloves. Let it steep for 20 minutes. Strain well, and drink hot or cold. Whole cloves are more effective – put them in a heavy plastic bag and pulverize them with a hammer. Use 1 1/2 teaspoons for making tea in 4 ½ cups of water. Other Helps - For relaxation do this for 15 minutes every day. (This also increases blood flow to the abdomen which helps your body heal.) Lie on the floor with your feet on a chair so your thighs are at a right angle to the seat of the chair and the calves of your legs are lying across the seat of the chair. It is as simple as that. - Do dry skin brushing which will stimulate the liver and adrenal glands, increasing their ability to handle the toxins. (This also helps the liver and adrenals decongest and detoxify.) - Drink plenty of the electrolyte drink mentioned earlier - put ¼ teaspoon of sea salt and the juice of ½ lemon in 6 ounces of water. Drink at least 6 times a day, 3 with meals. Lemons help the body detoxify.
