Guest guest
Ok, last email. :- ) Re: low blood sugar and getting it higher with simple sugars: Please Faith, do not eat sugars. The fact that your natural doc advised you to do that has me worried. My own body reactions, as well as all the literature I read on the subject and the good naturopaths I consulted, and my enviro MD, say: In order to stabilize low blood sugar (hypoglycemia), one must: - eat protein at regular times during the day (every 2 to 2 1/2-3 hours; e.g.: 3 (not too large) meals and 3 snacks). Protein releases sugar slowly in the body, thus stabilizing the sugar level. (All foods ultimately get converted into sugar in the body.) - eat at regular times during the day, 30 minutes (approx.) before the blood sugar starts dropping, in order to keep the blood sugar level stable all through the day. Therefore, one has to monitor this through the day to know when to eat (e.g.: my blood sugar level tends to drop towards 4:00 p.m.; so I need to eat around 3:30) - stay away from ginseng and golden rod, stimulants (coffee, tea, stimulating herb teas that are too stimulating), sweet foods (including fruits, white flour products like croissants; high sugar vegetables like beets, sweet potatoes; etc.) * At one time, I could eat one apple a day with seeds or nuts or cheese. (Nuts must be organic - tons of moldd and chemicals in the regular ones -, and peanuts must be avoided - toxic mold in them). Then the hypoblycemia got worse. Now I cannot eat fruits at all (as well, the candida is quite high and I have a lot of reactions as soon as I eat a fruit; so no cheese as well because of the same reason). * When I really eat as I should, I can go for longer periods without eating (e.g. 3-4 hours between meals and snacks). Well, that's it, dear Faith. Keep us posted on how you are doing. Fran
