Guest guest
I had never heard about teeth being associated with RA!! But from all of the evidence presented here, it sure seems to be. Yikes! I just got out of braces several months ago, so at least my teeth are straight now, but like someone else mentioned, filled with fillings and crowns. I have more gold in my mouth than Fort Knox. As for the popping thing - my knee does that and it sure is fun to gross out the kids with it. Guest guest
I am curious about this bite plate myself. I have dreams where my teeth hurt. I wake up and my teeth actually do hurt. It is bcs when I am sleeping I am trying to push my bottom ones out with the top ones. I have had this dream several times and it scares me bcs I think one night I am going to push so hard my teeth will come out. Maybe it is a way my mind is telling me I need to go to the dentist. ~Rainy Sue << I had no idea that RA could affect teeth either. I have, however, had a lot of problems with my jaw. I went to my dentist about it a year ago because it was cracking and locking a bit and getting on my nerves. He referred me to a maxo-something facial surgeon (specialises in the tempero (?) mandibular joints) who said there wasn't a great deal they could do. Anyway, over the last year it's gotten a lot worse and I went back to him. It constantly makes noise whenever I open my mouth, and creaks very loudly at times, and locks up a bit. It really freaks out my family and friends when they hear it. Anyway, They sent me for an MRI which shows the joints on both sides of my jaw, are wearing down due to my arthritis. I'm in the process of being fitted with a bite plate to wear at night to ease the strain on my jaw. Has anyone else had a similar experience, or problems with their jaw? Guest guest
I do that with my jaw. I put my face close to Ryder's and start chewing and he goes get away! STOP! As though you were scratching your nails on a blackboard. ~Rainy Sue << As for the popping thing - my knee does that and it sure is fun to gross out the kids with it. Guest guest
Rainy Sue, My dentist told me people with this kind of jaw problem grind their teeth in their sleep. Maybe that's what you do and that's why it makes your teeth hurt. I was almost asleep last night when I felt this really full on pain in my tongue, I sat bolt upright in bed and turned my light on...i grabbed a tissue and noticed that the tip of my tongue was bleeding..I'm thinking maybe I was grinding my teeth without noticing and my tongue got in the way and got bitten. It scared me I can tell you, especially since I didn't even realise I'd done it! I've also had some strange dreams about my mouth/jaw/teeth...it could be our subconcious telling us that our mouths are overactive when we're asleep! A bite plate might be the answer for you, definitely ask your dentist about it! Holly
Guest guest
You're probably clenching in your sleep. That's what I do sometimes and I wake with tooth pain.
