Guest guest
Dear Jeanne, This softgel product by NOW is a fish oil, which is not cod liver oil, therefore it contains no Vitamins A & D. This would be good to take in the summer when you get enough sun making Vits. A & D on your skin. But to get Vits. A & D you need a softgel containing halibut liver oil, which I have too, or cod liver oil. How much Vit. A should you take? The normal adult dose is about 20,000 - 30,000 IUs per day. If you are taking a natural source, and not synthetic, there should be no concern of an overdose however. It is only synthetics which cause overdoses. I have taken 100,000 IUs per day for periods of time to help my mucus membranes during a cold or flu, which was recommended by my holistic M.D. You should always take a day of rest from all supplements about every 2 weeks. Guest guest
I know Solgar is an expensive brand. Anyhow, in Europe it is. What do you pay for a certain amount of capsules? Is there a brand of cod liver oil that you take by the spoonful like in the old days? When I was small there was orange flavour and sugar in these bottles. We wouldn't want that though. The good news is: I ordered an enema set. Hope it's the right kind. It's not expensive thank God. Colonics are. I found organic coffe, Robusta type. I'm getting prepared. I'm a bit nervous about starting doing enemas.. I think I'll start with lukewarm water before I try with the coffee. I also got some Epsom salt, and will try that out too. I think it is great Bee added recipes for making everything at home, llike the cabbage rejuvelac. It's much cheaper that way. Going to the shop to find it takes time too :-) a My Cod Liver Oil is from Solgar. Says Norwegian COD LIVER OIL, Vitamin A & D, Omega-3 Fatty Acids, (EPA & DHA). The ingredients say > Vitamin A (from cod liver oil) 1,250 IU > Vitamin D (from cod liver oil) 135 IU > Cod Liver Oil 400mg > EPA 28 mg > (eicosapentaenoic acid, 7 % > DHA 28 % > (docosahexaenoic acid, 7 % > Ingredients: Gelatin, Glycerin, Water > Serving Size 1 capsul > I take 3 a day ==>Faith, I can't tell what the total of omega 3s are: It is 28 mg of EPA but no mgs are given for DHA. You need to take 3,000 mgs. of oemga-3 per day, so taking a capsule form may not be the way to go, or buy fish oils separately to get enough. ==>You also need 800-1200 IUs of vitamin D and a minimum of 10,000 IUs of vitamin A. That means you need to take at least 8 capsules per day = 1,080 vit. D and 10,000 vitamin A. You'd be better off buying liquid CLO and putting it in geletin capsules yourself if you cannot tolerate the oil in your mouth. Or take the liquid watered down to minimize the taste and sensation. Garden of Life is lemon flavored and I do not find it offensive. Luv, Bee

These are taken by the spoonful but some people find it offensive, either because of the fishy taste (some are flavored with lemon), or the oil feeling in their mouths so they get capsules. I'm finding that capsules may be inferior and may cost more in the long run however. > > The good news is: I ordered an enema set. Hope it's the right kind. It's> not expensive thank God. Colonics are. ==>The easiest appliance to use is a bulb-type syringe. I tried the enema bag and found it difficult compared to the syringe. > I found organic coffee, Robusta type.
