Taking ascorbic acid straight is hard on the teeth and the stomach, so buffering it is necessary. Bee
Guest guest
Is there any other reason for taking baking soda by mouth other than buffering the ascorbic acid? Is it completely safe? I ask this because my mother keeps telling me that she read someplace recently that baking soda is not good to ingest. She can't remember why or where she read this. I've been taking it anyways, and it is just on the back of my mind. I like to see some place that verifies its ok and has been reccomended. Your own body makes baking soda to alkalize foods coming out of the stomach. You can also rinse your eyes with it, and brush your teeth with it. >Is it completely safe? ==Yes. >I ask this because my mother keeps telling me that she read someplace recently that baking soda is not good to ingest. Guest guest
Thanks Bee. You're my mentor, and I admire you for what you do here. And another thing, lots of my friends and family know all about you, from me. I'm teaching them a few things on healthy eating from what I've learned here. Val P.S. I love the sally fallon cookbook and have been making her recipes before I found this support group. I make her saurkraut and eat it everyday.
