Guest guest
I was feeliing like I was getting a cold...........like every 4-5 days for quite awhile and now it maybe happens once a month. Lasts for 24-36 hours so something must be clearing up. I have also been using coconut oil lately and didn't think of die off. I do notice since taking CO that I no longer am having any heartburn or stomache aches.........other than once a week with the diarreaha. (sp?) Maybe the Rejuvenec (sp?) will help with this? I have a really hard time swallowing though that our bodies will go through or re-experience EVERY disease or illness we ever had to regain healing. I was a major drinker for YEARS way back............can't imagine having to go through a lengthy hangover for several months to regain health. And how would ones body re-experience a miscarriage? Or depression? or anxiety? Any facts or research that anyone has to back that up? Not trying to be difficult it is that I find it so incrediably hard to believe. I am trying to be upbeat and positive about my recovery and don't care if I feel worse before I get better. However the thought of having to go through 2-3 years of disease or illness flashbacks is not a pleasant thought. Jeanne
Guest guest
It seems that adding a few tablespoons a day of coconut oil has given me the runs as well. It been three days now and I soiled the sheets bad last night (sorry.) I've been having such a problem with this drizzle that comes out, (something I can't ever remember having,) that I went in today for colon hydrotherapy. The practitioner told me I must have been eating too much oil. The speculum (the thing they put in you,) was covered with greasy oil. She said the oil is what's causing me the runs and it's because at least some of it wasn't being digested. I gradually increased coconut oil from just a touch up to 2 or 3 tablespoons a day over a week long period or so. She told me that any oil, good or bad, is generally harder to digest than other foods because it's so concentrated. One gram of fat has 2 1/2 times the food energy (calories) of either protein or carbohydrates. So even if they're " good for you " they make more work for your digestion especially if you have a weakened system. _____ From: chefsuz2 [mailto:thenaturalkitchen@...] Sent: Thursday, June 03, 2004 6:15 PM Subject: [ ] once a week RUNS/nausea after eating my first taste of grden of life coconut oil i can relate the problem of getting the runs! i'm actually suffering from that today. no headache the way jeanne described, but i feel like i have a cold. last night i had a scratchy throat, this morning it was still there, with the feelings of getting a cold. i think i have the cold symptoms under control and thank goodness, i'm done working for the week, so the rest of my busywork can be done mostly from right here at my desk for the next three days (not as much of a drain on the system as running all over town). i bought some garden of life coconut oil today. after researching it further, i wanted to see the difference for myself, after trying the omega nutrition brand for the past week. i ate a tablespoon (maybe a little more) when i got home, on an empty stomach. its really good. very coconutty within 10 minutes i felt nauseated, very much so. i've been sitting still, reading here at my desk for the past hour and a half, waiting for it to pass. i finally started to drink some water about 30 minutes ago, that seems to be helping. my intuition is that it went directly into my system and either killed some yeasties (die off?), or else made some toxins release into my bloodstream. well, even though it wasn't a pleasant experience, it showed me something about the potency of this oil! i have eaten the omega nutrition oil on an empty stomach without that reaction. i think i'll use the omega for cooking, and the garden of life one for eating raw (maybe with my meals from now on!) just because it feels so alive and powerful as a raw food. i have been wondering about the runs problem, i also can't trace it to any particular food. but i used to have the battle between constipation & diarreah. now since on the high saturated fat, proteins & lots of veggies, i've been pretty good, except for about once a week runs! any input? Guest guest
hi robin, so sorry to hear about your troubles... i hope your digestion strengthens very soon! what a pain in the ____ ! i have been eating plenty of oils in my diet for the past couple of years, and had on & off constipation alternating with the runs. i think i've qualified for irritable bowel syndrome. for me personally, i don't believe its the coconut oil doing it to me, it has been digesting fine. no oily stools, etc. it sounds like your digestion system has decided to take a break. and even the 2 tablespoons of oil per day just isn't assimilating. thank goodness for your broths! now, on that note: i have noticed that when i go on more of a liquid diet (especially raw veggie juices) it goes right through me. one of my favorite quick broths (lots of onions cooked till really soft, some sea salt & dulse seaweed) will also shoot right through me! i don't know if its just the salty liquid or what. but even still, do you feel as though you're getting some nourishment? feeling not hungry is a pretty good sign to be fasting, as you said you've been doing. sometimes i think that even digestion takes energy away from other healing processes the body is trying to accomplish. don't forget to drink plenty of good quality water! i hope you feel better soon. take good care ~ susan (chefsuz) > It seems that adding a few tablespoons a day of coconut oil has given me the > runs as well. Guest guest
Not sure as I really don't have the problem. I have just the opposite problem. Magnesium can cause the runs. Maybe you are eating a food that is high in Magnesium. Guest guest
Thanks , I've also included a lot of fats and oils for years. It's been mostly in the form of olive oil and fresh avocados because I live in a Mediterranean climate, the wine country just north of San Francisco and I feel blessed to have such a local abundance of fresh organic foods available. Yum! Each day for years I've made a raw veggie juice with various greens (with my GreenPower Juicer) and blend it with lemon, Celtic salt and part of an avocado. When it's cold out or I'm extra concerned about digestion I heat it up and it's a lovely soup. I've never had a problem with it. I' ve also always been able to eat organ meats and since there's a big business out here for organic -no -hormones etc chicken and livestock, I eat chicken and calves liver about once a week. I've always been able to digest them and like them cooked quick and hot in coconut oil, hot but almost rare inside. I noticed some problems when I increased the amount of coconut oil I was consuming though. I sensed something was wrong and wrote about it here last week in fact. I mentioned that my stools were a funny color and were very floaty and fatty. I read that it's the cholesterol that makes them float. I didn't feel that great (and had those dribbly runs for days!) so I 've backed off the C.O. a bit and only have with other easily tolerated food -- especially fresh vegetables because of all the enzymes. Thanks for your nice note! ~Robin ________________________________ From: chefsuz2 [mailto:thenaturalkitchen@...] Sent: Thursday, June 03, 2004 10:51 PM Subject: [ ] Re: once a week RUNS/nausea after eating my first taste of grden of life coconut oil hi robin, so sorry to hear about your troubles... i hope your digestion strengthens very soon! what a pain in the ____ ! i have been eating plenty of oils in my diet for the past couple of years, and had on & off constipation alternating with the runs. i think i've qualified for irritable bowel syndrome. for me personally, i don't believe its the coconut oil doing it to me, it has been digesting fine. no oily stools, etc. it sounds like your digestion system has decided to take a break. and even the 2 tablespoons of oil per day just isn't assimilating. thank goodness for your broths! now, on that note: i have noticed that when i go on more of a liquid diet (especially raw veggie juices) it goes right through me. one of my favorite quick broths (lots of onions cooked till really soft, some sea salt & dulse seaweed) will also shoot right through me! i don't know if its just the salty liquid or what. but even still, do you feel as though you're getting some nourishment? feeling not hungry is a pretty good sign to be fasting, as you said you've been doing. sometimes i think that even digestion takes energy away from other healing processes the body is trying to accomplish. don't forget to drink plenty of good quality water! i hope you feel better soon. take good care ~ susan (chefsuz) > It seems that adding a few tablespoons a day of coconut oil has given me the > runs as well. Guest guest
This sounds similar to the initial reaction I had to wheatgrass juice. Being an impatient Sagittarius, I downed two ounces at the juice bar and went home. Twenty minutes later, my heart was racing, I had hives, and my skin was burning with what felt like a Niacin rush. The diarrhea came later. I took two Benedryl and went to bed. I'd thought it was an allergic reaction, but it was simply too much detox. Two weeks later, I tried half an ounce and tolerated that just fine. I'm now up to an ounce and a half once or twice a day with no adverse reactions. I don't know much about the use of the coconut oil, but if you really think it's helpful why not start with a teaspoon or half a teaspoon of the coconut oil and see how you feel? bbc At 09:14 PM 6/3/2004, you wrote: >i can relate the problem of getting the runs! >i'm actually suffering from that today. > >no headache the way jeanne described, but i feel like i have a cold. >last night i had a scratchy throat, this morning it was still there, >with the feelings of getting a cold. i think i have the cold symptoms >under control and thank goodness, i'm done working for the week, so >the rest of my busywork can be done mostly from right here at my desk >for the next three days (not as much of a drain on the system as >running all over town). > >i bought some garden of life coconut oil today. after researching it >further, i wanted to see the difference for myself, after trying the >omega nutrition brand for the past week. > >i ate a tablespoon (maybe a little more) when i got home, on an empty >stomach. its really good. very coconutty > >within 10 minutes i felt nauseated, very much so. i've been sitting >still, reading here at my desk for the past hour and a half, waiting >for it to pass. i finally started to drink some water about 30 >minutes ago, that seems to be helping. > >my intuition is that it went directly into my system and either >killed some yeasties (die off?), or else made some toxins release >into my bloodstream. well, even though it wasn't a pleasant >experience, it showed me something about the potency of this oil! > >i have eaten the omega nutrition oil on an empty stomach without that >reaction. i think i'll use the omega for cooking, and the garden of >life one for eating raw (maybe with my meals from now on!) just >because it feels so alive and powerful as a raw food. > >i have been wondering about the runs problem, i also can't trace it >to any particular food. but i used to have the battle between >constipation & diarreah. now since on the high saturated fat, >proteins & lots of veggies, i've been pretty good, except for about >once a week runs! > >any input? > > > > >
Guest guest
Hi Thanks for your comments. I take about a Tablespoon a day and noticed on another post that someone had mentioned about taking excess magneisum. One thing I added to my vitamins was a dose of potassium and magnesium, which might be a problem or myabe it is just die off. I feel really achey today and panicky and ate some chicken and aspargus for lunch....small amount......and 10 minutes later had the runs again. I had a piece of cheese for breakfest and took some vtamins this morning, I just feel like crap right mow with a headache on the top of my head again. Besides drinking water any other suggestions from anyone?
Guest guest
hi jeanne! i'm noticing that good saturated fats are really helping me feel balanced. are you eating good fat with every meal? does your lunch chicken have its bones & skin? asaparagus have a little oil or butter? i'm new to the saturated fat school of thought. a few weeks ago i was telling bee that i was really having a hard time warming up to the idea. but i decided to try it and i can really notice an overall improvement in the way i feel. what blood type are you? o? cheese might be bothering you. i've laid off my new favorite snack (raw sharp cheddar) for the past few days, because its been years since i ate cow cheese, and i was really getting into it for the last week. don't want to overload in case i do have some lactose intolerance - which can cause diarreah! i'm also using less raw butter than i was for the past couple of weeks, and trying the coconut oil in it's place. achy & panicky sounds like it could be the yeast beast wreaking havoc with you. feeling panicky & nervous can also contribute to the runs. do you do yoga or stretching or meditation or anything? anything that gets you breathing deeply would probably feel so good & calming. i did a really nice long skin brushing before i took my shower this morning, and then did a little hot & cold hydrotherapy while in the shower. it feels so good, just to take the time to treat ourselves with a little extra t.l.c. maybe a hot bath with some mineral salts, very relaxing, very soothing on the muscles & aches... Guest guest
Hi Jeanne, I'm not sure but I'll bet Bee knows: Maybe taking potassium in a supplement form is pretty powerful and might do more harm than good? As you may have read from my posts, I drank veggie broth for a couple of days because I too had all those symptoms -- it was like the flu! I'm usually ravenously (spelling?) hungry but found I had little hunger with the nausea and " runs " so it was fairly easy to get by without solid food (I can't imagine that anything would stay down anyway,) so that's what I did and now I feel okay. I took no supplements of any kind during that nauseated time. I just tried to let my body work things out. I think I'd stay away from cheese or any other fats until you feel better? ~Robin _____ From: jeannekrieg@...
