Guest guest
Dear Group, During the first couple of weeks on the candida diet most people will go through a type of withdrawal. Symptoms include irritability, feeling edgy, craving sweets and other snacks, and a feeling like you are going crazy. Your craving for salty foods and products containing grains or potatoes will also increase. If this happens, please grin and bear it and it will eventually pass and then you will improve more rapidly. Your body is going through withdrawal symptoms because it has become addicted to sugars, grains, high carb foods and chemicals contained in the the foods you previously consumed. Your cravings will also be higher because of a lack of nutrients, including minerals. Candida overgrowth also causes you to crave the foods it needs to survive. In the beginning it is a hard transition, but with patience and your determination to get well you will successfully pass through this phase and be better off in the end. The sooner you can adopt the entire diet the closer you will be to overcoming candida. Your body will crave " bad " salts (table salt) contained in the foods you previously ate, which are added to most processed foods. Table salt is bleached, deodorized, and refined, removing any minerals that may have been present, and containing harmful chemicals. Your very blood requires actual salt to function, but it needs other minerals found naturally in Celtic sea salt. Your cells must be bathed in a sodium-based, extracellular fluid, which includes a balanced mixture of essential minerals your body needs and craves. You can greatly minimize your salt cravings by adding " good " sea salt, i.e. Celtic Sea Salt, daily, by drinking the best " electrolyte drink " in the world. Drink it 6 times a day to replenish the necessary balance of minerals, the lack of which increases cravings. Drink 3 of these glasses with your meals to increase hydrochloric acid production in your stomach, which aids digestion: -1/4 teaspoon of Celtic Sea Salt -the juice of 1/2 of a lemon (freshly squeezed) -6 ounces of filtered water at room temperature, not cold or with ice You will greatly decrease your cravings for sweets and grains by eliminating them both as soon as possible. If you can get through 5 days without them you will find your cravings will decrease significantly. " Good " fats such as butter, coconut oil, and other naturally occurring animal fats also helps decrease cravings because they provide you with the best source of energy and satiate your appetite much better than the carbs you used to eat. In fact your body cannot live without good fats and meats, but it can live without carbs. Note: Carbs are any foods which are not fats or protein, including vegetables, grains, fruits, etc. Cravings for sweets and grains can also be minimized by taking extra vitamin C (refer to the article " How to Successfully Overcome Candida " , under the section on " Essential Supplements " for the kind to buy - take 1,000 mgs every hour during your worst craving episodes, until you reach " bowel tolerance " , i.e. loose stools, and then cut back 250 mgs every hour until you reach " bowel tolerance " again and then cut back another 250 mgs, and so on. Vitamin C and glucose have similar chemical structures and they compete for one another upon entering the cells. If there is more glucose around, less vitamin C will be allowed into the cell. Since our bodies must obtain vitamin C from foods or supplements it is very important that sugar and high carbs are eliminated since they turn into glucose in the body. Please note: Vegetables contain more vitamin C than any fruits, i.e. broccoli, peppers, etc. The best in health, Bee " Food is medicine!
