Guest guest
Hello all, I'm new to the list but have been learning volumes since joining it a week or so ago. I've suffered from Candida on and off for at least 10 years now. I'm trying to resume my battle against it now with new knowledge gained from this list and other sources. That being said, I have a few questions: 1. I've been buying Redwood Hill Farm plain goat milk yogurt made with pasteurized but unhomogenized goat milk. I just realized that the second ingredient (after the milk) is tapioca. Does anyone know if the tapioca affects Candida negatively? I wonder whether it's cultured along with the milk or added later. Also, the yogurt contains pectin; is that okay? I made my first batch of kefir today with raw organic goat milk, and I will also make yogurt at some point; but I would still love to have the Redwood Hill yogurt as a back-up. 2. Is Kombucha tea okay for Candida sufferers to drink? 3. My 5-year-old daughter also suffers from Candida. Two years ago, we discovered that she has urinary tract reflux, and then we learned that she was born with only one kidney. Since then, she's been taking a nightly dose of an antibiotic (Sulfamethoxazole) to eliminate the risk of infection to the kidney; and she will continue the antibiotic until either she outgrows the reflux (which commonly does happen) or we have the reflux fixed surgically (which I hope never happens). Anyway, what is the best thing to do besides diet to combat the Candida when the antibiotic is killing off her good bacteria every day? Thanks in advance for any and all comments. This list has been an excellent resource for me! Anne

This list has been an excellent > resource for me! > > Anne > Hi Anne: Yes tapioca is a starch and pectin is a fruit mucilage good for the bowel. Better to make your own yogurt or try to find a product without tapioca as a thickening agent. Kombucha tea is not a wise choice for Candida diet it has black tea and sugar which outweighs any benefits of the culture it is like eating yogurt with sugar in it tastes good but not of much help.Try Chamomile, dandelion, pau d " arco, ginger teas just to name a few. For your daughter I would suggest yogurt daily with the addition of a probiotic like MMSpro Entrin for children mix in the yogurt.Plenty of water divide weight by 2 = oz per day. Childrens multi vit min and vit c liquids like those from Childlife.Lets hope she outgrows the reflux. Hope this helps! Roy > > > >
Guest guest
Roy: Thanks for the quick reply. I've ordered some MMSpro Entrin for my daughter. As an update, I took my daughter today to the holistic M.D. we know. He prescribed Diflucan because oral suspension Nystatin in the past didn't seem to help her much. He also gave us the Comprehensive Digestive Stool Analysis & Parasitology kit from Great Smokies Diagnostic Lab. (I've done the test myself in the past -- oh what fun.) He wants to identify the particular strain(s) of yeast we're combating. Sounds like a wise approach to me. Anne
Guest guest
Hi Anne, I just wanted to mention that the CDSA test may and may not reveal any candida. It depends on whther they are able to grown a strain. In my case they were unable to grown any strains. But it the test is still very good to give you an idea of just how well you digestion is working. Ciao, Elio > Roy: > > Thanks for the quick reply.
