Guest guest
Interesting.....not sure I'd be brave enough to try it, though! I guess it depends in part on how bad the candida is - maybe a good ole clean-out can help with some levels of infection. One thing he's right about is the amount of conflicting information out there - argh! I'd want to know a lot more before I acted on this.....it does make sense at one level to totally detox, but the lack of protein and fat would worry me. It's a shame there's no follow-up posts, or a bit more background information. Sceptical.... Guest guest
Yikes on that one! I'm sure it worked for him, but I would be very sceptical to try it...besides I'm not missing my fruits that much :-) A couple of questions: what type of nuts, if any, can you eat on a candida diet. Are we allowed red meat of any kind? And finally, like , I want to know how long this is going to take until I can cheat (just a little bit!!)...I have been very strict with myself, and every once in a while, you just want that piece of cheesecake, you know? Does anyone here indulge every once in a while without suffering major setbacks? Does anyone have any suggestions for a special treat once in a while? Well, I've been on The Diet since May, and I've cheated twice (pizza, both times). The first time, about a month ago, I didn't have too many problems apart from a mild stomach ache, but the second time (last Saturday) I came out in spots within a matter of hours, and felt thoroughly rotten for 3 or 4 days afterwards. I was in bed by 6pm the day after, and still don't feel as good as I did before the pizza. I've not cheated with sugar at all, simply because it made me feel so utterly dreadful before the diet. Literally, I'd have one single chocolate, or a piece of fresh fruit, and within half an hour my head would be spinning and I wouldn't be able to focus my eyes. My idea of a sugar cheat now is a square of sugar-free diabetic chocolate!! I've got a friend who's on teh same diet, though, and she eased up on herself after about 4 months without too many ill-effects. She has days off where she has white bread, ice-cream, beer, all sorts, and it doesn't appear to have done her any harm. Not sure I'd recommend it, though - I'm going to fight this thing 100% from now on in!! Just think - if your'e feeling miserable from not being able to have treats, the candida must be feeling 10 times worse, and will pack up and leave all the sooner if it's not getting fed at all! All the best, Ann ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ http://www.willow-web.net Quality Web Design ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Guest guest
Thanks Ann Actually I must confess... I cheated a bit yesterday! I was making my friend a chocolate birthday cake with chocolate icing (remember those?) and of course I had a few tastes of the icing (oops!) Anyways, either the icing wasn't very good or I've lost my taste for sugar - because I really didn't enjoy it that much... Thank goodness that I didn't really have any ill effects from the whole thing, but I do think that it was an important lesson for me to learn. Those candida have a powerful persuasive nature of making you want something that you know you shouldn't have. When I had it, I realized that the risk that I was taking for such little satisfaction really wasn't worth it. So today I have a new outlook.... Like they say, if you fall off the wagon, its best to look at how far you've travelled before hopping back on. I've come this far, there's no point in stopping now. Take care, Joanne PS: Someone should make a Candida RAID drug...blow 'em out in one shot... Guest guest
Dear Everyone, My vote is, yes, I think the fruit diet would cure candida. It would exert a powerful cleansing force that the candida could not survive, even if they were drowning in their food of sugar. My thought is, that by detoxifying the body and especially cleansing out the colon, you are left with an environment inhospitable to yeast. I also believe this because I've experienced die-off reactions after a breakfast of only fruit. I'm no scientist but I know when the yeast are dying, and it's after a fruit breakfast. For some reason I think green tea is also helpful- it seems I'm less likely to have any symtoms the more I drink green tea. Has anyone ever heard of this one? Guest guest
My intuition tells me to believe this. Fruit produces an acidic environment which yeast cannot live in. I am one who has eaten fruit on an anti-candida diet (to ease my hypoglycemic feelings) and suffered no ill effects. Also, when I have maintained a fruit and veggie diet for several days, I have experienced die-off. Some of my sources say it is ok to eat tropical fruits on a anti-candida diet; others say it is not ok. I have decided to restrict fruits to 1-2 tropical fruits per day on the anti-candida diet. ~ In a message dated 9/20/00 11:38:41 AM Central Daylight Time, peter.j.lake@... writes: << I found an interesting story on the below link of someone who claims they went on a fruit diet for their psorasis and found that it also cured their candida. It seemed a bit strange to be told that when his story actually ASKED for comments. One thing's sure though, I've been researching raw food diets of late, and the raw fooders are the healthiest people going. If your insode is clean, you are well. I would strongly recommend as much raw food as you can possibly eat along with whatever home made juices you allow yourself, (ie depends on if you eat fruits, what type and how much etc). A favourite with me is 2 big carrots and 2 less sweet apples, or 3 big carrots and a small bunch of grapes. After doing this for a couple of days, (is drinking this with my breakfast and putting some of the fruit pulp on my cereal to make it more bearable), my sinus problems cleared remarkably. Now, I've never been 100% convinced I had Candida, (altough I keep it in mind), but this result was remarkable enough for me to be sure there's something in the raw foods things, (after 2 days on 50%+ raw, I felt on top of the world!). So, I created a new group, which is currently booming. We've been going only 10 days and have 68 members already. Why not join us? You'll find it at: RawFoodsBeginners See you there as well as here!! Love and raw foods, beth.
Guest guest
> is correct that to rid oneself from candida one must avoid all > sugars and yeast. I'm inclined to agree with the naturopath who recommended the raw food diet - that refined rubbish feeds Candida. Also, I do believe that yeast does NOT feed the Candida, rather we are told ot avoid it in case of allergy or sensitivity, ditto dairy, ditto wheat. Have most of you guys cut out dairy altogether, then? I tried, on three separate ocasions, and felt utterly dreadful without any milk at all, so now I have small quantities (no more than about 1/4 pint) skimmed or semi-skimmed milk a day, in decaf tea or barleycup, and don't tend to have too many problems from it. My homeopath has told me I can have cottage cheese, as well. Guest guest
The only dairy I do is cheese, and I'm starting to think I need to cut that out too tho it's such a convenient way to get protein. But then my major symptom is sinus infections, which dairy makes worse. Louise Re: Re: Fruit diet curing candida??????
