Guest guest
i have not found this to be so with Vitamin C at all.... and I had severe leaky gut. I think when we make blanket statements sometimes it doesn't 'fit' all..... wendy Anxiety related to Candida - LEAKY GUT! There's a lot of talk about thyroid problems, and " 's Syndrome " , but I don't buy it. Candida sufferers often have leaky gut, and that is most likey the cause of the chain of effects which lead to sucpicions of thyroid problems. The chain of events works this way: 1. Leaky gut allowing macromolecules and toxins into the bloodstream, liver and pancreas biles ducts. 2. The pancreas suffers and produces drastically reduced enzymes. 3. The lack of pancreatic enzymes further damages and inflames the colon by allowing more undigesting food particles to gets into the colon, resulting in a vicous cycle. 4. Meanwhile, since the pancreas is reduced in function, it is not producing insulin properly, and blood sugar regulation becomes abnormal. 5. This causes the adrenals to work harder and eventually tire out such that they are not functioning well any more. 6. This causes the thyroid to work even harder. 7. Moreover, while this is all going on, the poor living is dealing with toxins from the colon in ways that cause serotonin deficiencies, resulting in things like depression, anxiety, panic, etc, etc. (Did you know that serotonin was involved with living function? Surprise, surprise.) Te hepatic P450 enzymes are overtaxes in the process, leading to more free radical production, less ability to deal with usual toxics of daily life, which in turn leads to general illness, but oddly enough promotes gut healing. However, the liver needs to be nutritionally supported. Most people don't know how pivotal and overarching colon function is to the whole endochrine process, and therefore to the entire human system. A proper working colon is the foundation of good health. Screw it up and *everything* in the human system suffers. Luckily, leaky gut can be healed completely. By the way, although the common wisdom is that candida sufferers should take high doses of vitamin C, and other antioxidants, this should *NOT* be done when fighting leaky gut. The reason why is that histamine actually promotes healing of the gut, and vitamin C is a naturally anti-histimine. (If you have leaky gut, ever wonder why you feel better in some ways and worse in others when pollen is high? It is because the pollen stimulates more histimines, which make you feel like you have a head cold, but the extra histimine is very GOOD for the leaky gut.) The only exception is Glutathion (GSM) and Alpha Lipoic Acid. These are a must to support the liver. HCL and pancreatic enzymes are a must too. Moreover, an excess of free radicals turns out to be good thing for leaky gut as well, since protozoal parasites (which are usually involved) are more sensitive to free radical damage than human cells. So as it turns out, it's better to put up with some extra cell damage in general in order to heal the gut faster. Guest guest
HCL is hydrocloric acid. Any decent health food store will have it. Guest guest
You may not feel any different during the time you have it, but high doses of C will impede leaky gut healing. Guest guest
I Have no thyroid at all, so i know some of mine is definetly from underactive thyroid, i take synthroid, but it is very hard to regulate your thyroid as it should work normally on its own with a substitute, i never quite feel good, either to hyper or too tired, they test it often and i am between two doses so i take one and hope for the best. Guest guest
Donna Are you aware that soy products can lower your thyroid levels? I think we posted this before but I am not sure. Also foods in the cabbage family, broccoli, cauliflower eaten raw destroys thyroid levels. You can eat them if you steam them lightly or cook them thoroughly with no problem. I wanted to mention this because we a leaning toward a healthy vegetable diet with protein and may be unaware that our fresh veggie salad is bringing us down. Guest guest
Sonna There is mention in my enzyme book on taking a prescription drug for thyroid called Proloid. This contains both 4T and 3T. The book mentions this drug for persons who do not want to take animal gland extracts, it only says that Proloid will work and is much better than Synthroid. I have no experience to say that it is better or not, I am taking Armour and doing well. Maybe this will help you more, just a thought, and take care.
