Hey Harper.

Sorry I didnt respond sooner, I've been a little busy. I'm not taking very

much Tylenol. I can only take 1500mg (3 extra strength) a day if I need it.

I am glad I was told that I am able to take it; before I would just have to

suffer through terrible headaches. Well I went to the doctor Monday andmy

numbers have gone down more. I will have my blood drawn again on Friday and

then find out Monday if I will need a blood transfusion. I was told that a

blood transfusion was a definite possiblity for me. Do they hurt? How long

is the hospital stay? I really don't like being in hospitals.

Dear Becky I am a new member .........diagnosed in june with AIH have not

had a blood transfusion but as a nurse of 30 years have given plenty you

will need to have some blood drawn by venipuncture and wait why they type and

cross your blood not only for A B AB O, Rh factor and

for other antibodies then they start an IV with a saline fluid and hang the

unit of blood they typed to you they usually run the blood over 2-3hrs

andtake a lot of vital signs (bp pulse and temp) to watch for an allergic

reaction then your on your way! tomorrow I go for my liver bx I've been

on predisone for 5 months with no change in my liver panel...but 26 lbs more

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!and now hair on my face!!!!!

don't be afraid everything will go all right.......and people always feel

better after blood because they are better oxygenated and feel stonger and

usually with more energy............................by the way has anyone

heard of milk thistle for liver disease????????????????........Jo

Dear Jo,

Milk thistle seems to be one of the few herbs hepatologists say are ok to take. But each doctor and center is different so please check with your doctor before adding or deleting any meds or herbs or vitamins.

Congratulations to on her new pump! I will make her life much easier.

What a brave girl. I can't even get my 18yr old NDA daughter with Diabetes

to consider the pump. She hates the idea of something attached to herself!

It's possible I certainly can't eat mushrooms or quorn without some very

weird reactions. but given that no doctor has ever believed my candidia

exists they are not going to believe that one

I meant just a plain water fast it's too cleanisning as there is nothing

there to absorb poisins it is safer to go on a veg juice fast if you are

very toxic certain vegetables are good for certain conditions and will

nourish you as it works

Hi, all

It took me awhile to get on the post op board, although I had my surgery on

July 15. It's good to read your posts. I am feeling bad, as I have only lost

19 lbs and am one month out (plus a few days). I haven't lost weight since

the first 19 days, when I lost 19 lbs quickly. I'm eating a protein shake every

day, taking my Citrucel, and now and Penny tell me to up my protein.

When I looked at the weight loss graph on the website, (under Weight Loss on

the left column), it suggested that, for my pre op weight, I should lose 21-26

lbs in the first month. So here I am not losing as much as, I think, the

slowest loser. What a drag this is. What do you all think?

Typical intake is a glass of V-8, a couple glasses of OJ, 1/2 cup of cottage

cheese, a shake with whey and a full container of yogurt, a bowl of tomato

soup with 3-4 saltine squares. Yesterday, instead of the soup, I added refried

beans with some flavored canned diced tomatoes and American cheese, warmed up.

What do you all think? Also, which protein bars are you finding good for

early on? I can't bear to add another protein shake, yet was advised to. Maybe

if I add a protein bar...

Hi ,

Why are you still on stage one foods? About the only thing I see here that

you have added in is

cheese, refried beans, diced tomatoes and cottage cheese . you only have 4

weeks before you can move on to stage three. Shake things up try oatmeal,

eggs, fruit, any soft food you can eat.

It's time to move on Gatorade won't hurt you either unless there is a

medical

reason you can't drink it. V8 and Orange Juice may not be what you need.

A protein bar may be more then you can handle right now protein bars aren't

soft foods.

You are making good choices I just don't think you are allowing yourself

enough choices.

Don't worry about that chart...I didn't start being " average " until this

month (5 months out) Now next month I will at the top of the chart for

weight loss.

For protein bars I like Kashi's Go Lean Bars. My favorite is chocolate

peanut butter. They have 13 g of protein, 200mg sodium, 270mg potassium. I

have found them at some Walmarts. Try uping the protein. Your body may

think it is starving and holding on to every calorie.

Yes this bar is quite good in my opinion - much like a candy bar --

in more ways than one. Did you look past the protein and see that it

also contains a whopping 31 grams of sugar and 48 grams of

carbohytes! This is not a protein bar I use for pure nutrition. I

found Tri-O-Plex bars are pretty good. They have a caramel apple

that is good and it has 30 grams of protein I believe. I try and

watch the bars that are so loaded with carbs. Premier 8 are OK too

and are much lower in carbs.

, I felt pretty bed for about the first 6 weeks. My surgery was

6/8/04 and I have been feeling much better the past 3 weeks or so.

I too did not lose as much the first month as I expected, but had

lost 10 lbs prior to surgery. I had a point about 3-4 weeks out

where I stayed the same for a while. Think my body had to realize I

really wasn't trying to kill it off. I also got tired of protein

shakes at about a month out. I have not found a protein bar that I

consider edible. I have become pretty taste/texture sensitive and

find most of the " high protein " products gag-inducing. The soy is

too mealy for me. This has been more difficult than I expected. I

really enjoy cottage cheese for protein. If you like beans and can

tolerate it, the bean and lentil soups usually have lots of protein

in them. I don't have much to help, just wanted you to know you are

not alone and it does get better.

Try taking creatine in your juice, you won't even notice it is there. Also add

glutamine. I take an hgh supplement from hi-health. It's not really human

growth hormone. It's a complex of amino acids that is supposed to stimulate

your body to produce its own hgh. Besides, getting in amino acids is only one

of the main reasons we need our protein. They are the building blocks of life.

Try this and see if it doesn't kick things into gear. Remember, your body is

adjusting. It needs time to think about what has happened to it. When it

thinks everything is ok, it will let loose again. Hope this helps you.

Dear !

Not so at all. I worked for State Farm for years in auto insurance and had

an accident two years ago - not my fault - but had to have PT. I was rear

ended. Your insurance DOES pay your medical. We are in a NO FAULT state, no

fault aplies to medical only and will NOT affect your rates AT ALL. That is

false information completely. Your insurance will cover ALL the medical bills

up to your limit of coverage, and if your bills go higher than the ceiling

limit, then you can be covered under your " underinsured " coverage (if you have

that on your policy). Also, if the bills go higher than a certain amount (I

don't know what the amount is set at these days) you can sue the other party

and/or their liability insurance to cover the amount and any permanent/ongoing

problems resulting from the accident. The MOST important information for you is

that it does NOT affect your rates. That is why it is called NO Fault. Don't

pay for anything! The insurance company will even pay you for your mileage to

and from the doctors!
