Guest guest
Hello Graham, I can appreciate you fear of the drugs and side effects. I have a terrible time with side effects from drugs. I am on predisone and so far so good. Other people here have tried to reduce their dosage but it is difficult. I tried celebrex and was allergic to it as I was to gold injections. If you had problems with your blood pressure while on celebrex, it would probably not be a good idea for you to go on vioxx. I had major problems with that drug. It raised my blood pressure terribly, I was really scared. Now a lot of information is coming out about the dangers of vioxx. I am on methotrexate once a week for the RA, also clinoril and darvocet for pain. Folic acid because of the meth., other stuff but basically that is all for the RA. I know people can help you here with trying to reduce the pred., it can be difficult and take a long time. I just recently found out how careful you have to be, while on these drug, in the sun. It must be a problem for you living in Australia. You can find some answers here, this group has been a tremendous help to me. It has helped being able to talk to other people who understand what this is like. Hope you have a good day.
Guest guest
Does anyone here know if you can take Darvocet while taking LDN?..........anyone??
Guest guest
One of Darvocet's active ingredients are propoxyphene, a narcotic (opiate) pain medication .. so you should stop Darvocet before starting LDN. Guest guest
I’m glad your treatment is working for you. Prednisone is a corticosteroid and strong anti-inflammatory so it usually acts quickly to help the symptoms of RA, but most doctors want you off it if possible because of side effects. Arava is a real RA medication that many people are on long-term. Mobic is an anti-inflammatory but I don’t think it does anything to slow joint damage, but it does help symptoms. I suggest that you try to reduce your Prednisone (with your doctor’s permission) and do that slowly to see how well you do without it. Arava usually takes quite a while to become effective and Prednisone is a good bridge medication while waiting for the slower-acting RA medications to take effect. Of course, follow your doctor’s orders. God bless. I don't know if any of you have tried these medications but they helped me.
