Guest guest
Hi Duncan repackages it in ziplock bags (big ones!) and passes on his low costs. Mine didn't come with instructions, so I emailed him Very easy. Just use one or two teaspoons a day, up to 40 gm (I think) per day. Add it to water or juice. The trick though is to sprinkle it on as you stir, don't dump it all in at once. or it forms rock like clumps. Took me a bit to catch on. The bags he sells are 2 lbs, and will last a good while. Oh, if it matters to you, seems to be tasteless. At least, I haven't noticed anything different when I add it in (except for rock like clumps when I do it wrong lol ) Diane Re: Re: to who it may concern , Yes I have been talking to Duncan since we last spoke. Guest guest
, Glad to see that Diane picked up the stream while I was working. Duncan has given me some great advice. My husband is taking a product called Yeast Defense, I am taking a rotation of Yeast Cleanse by Solaray and CandiGone. Will probably add a third when this bottle is empty. According to Duncan, we should both be taking the inulin. And will once I get it. > Thanks Diane, I'm on line now ordering from him... > > > > From: Diane Trudeau <dianatrudeau@s...> > Reply-candidiasis > candidiasis > Subject: Re: : inulin > Date: Thu, 03 Jul 2003 18:15:05 -0600 > > Hi > > Duncan repackages it in ziplock bags (big ones!) and passes on his low > costs. Guest guest
Thanks , There is a real good book called The Yeast Syndrome. I have learned a lot from it. One of the things the author talks about is eating 3 to 4 cups of yogurt a day....I have found a good quality low sugar low carb and hi protein yogurt, it is called Total (Greek Yogurt), there is 0 or 2 percent..The 0 has only 6 grams of sugar per 7oz...If you have ever noticed that any nonfat plain yogurt typically has 16 grams of sugar per 8oz....I found this Greek Yogurt at Trader Joes... Just some advice for anyone...And it has worked for me and now my systematic candida is manageable but still there.... Guest guest
Hi Brigett I'm copying a previous email from Duncan Crow. He posts a lot here. In short, inulin is a " prebiotic " that works with the probiotics. It feeds only the good guys in the gut, bad guys can't utilize it. Read on: Inulin is an indigestible set of primarily long chain sugars of different lengths. The shortest chain sugars (FOS) and the small amount of regular sugars in it can also be used by the wrong bacteria and yeasts, but the longer chain sugars in it can only be used by the correct bacteria. Increasing Inulin intake restores bowel health in many ways by controlling incorrect bacteria and yeasts in the long run. I've put up a couple of Inulin pages on my website: http://members.shaw.ca/duncancrow/ I also have a 110-page scientific review I'll be scanning in shortly. Native Inulin is easy to get in retail or industrial quantities, on the 'net or in the health food store. If the product is decribed as simply Inulin, it is native inulin. It costs about $16 a pound in retail quantities. Inulin can also be refined to remove regular and the shortest chain sugars for even more specific feeding of the correct bowel bacteria using only the longest chain sugars. This is a distinctly different product that costs about $18 a pound in retail quantities. Long-chain Inulin is the kind I make available because it will not interfere in any way with the candida or IBS diet, which often calls for eliminating all dietary sugars and starches. This Inulin will feed bifidobacteria and lactobacillus strains to restore bowel flora and little else. Re: Re: to who it may concern , Yes I have been talking to Duncan since we last spoke. I'm going to purchase his inulin product... _________________________________________________________________ Protect your PC - get McAfee.com VirusScan Online http://clinic.mcafee.com/clinic/ibuy/campaign.asp?cid=3963
Guest guest
Hi Mercy; Please see http://members.shaw.ca/duncancrow/inulin_prebiotic_probiotic.html for the complete science on inulin, with references. It supports proper bowel bacterial growth rather than suppressing candida directly. The proper bacteria suppress unwanted bacteria and yeasts. Duncan Crow > > WHAT exactly is INULIN? Guest guest
Duncan, Just to understand inulin a little better. I've noticed that when I eat asparagus say 2 days in row or more...I get severe D. Is that expected because it is feeding the good bacteria in the colon and getting rid of toxins? Should I be concern or is this expected due to die-off. I had an episode last night and today I feel very tired : ( Any advise..anyone? Guest guest
Prebiotics are undigested carbohidrates that friendly and no freindly bacterias use as a food. If you eat something that you don't digest, it is going to give you a reaction. (bloating, flatulence, gas) > > Duncan, > > Just to understand inulin a little better. Guest guest
I'd guess that a reaction to asparagus is most likely because your system isn't so used to vegetables anymore; some people have to seriously restrict even the vegetables they can eat at first but dietary diversity can eventually be re-established so you can eat normal food again. Do you react to onions or other high-inulin food such as jerusalem artichoke or jicama? Do you react to broccoli or higher phenol-containing food like brussel sprouts, implicating phenols. Do you react to wine sulfites? all good, Duncan > > Duncan, > > Just to understand inulin a little better. I've noticed that when I eat asparagus say 2 days in row or more...I get severe D. Guest guest
Thanks Duncan. My body does seem to react when I introduce new foods and/or supplements. I have eaten asparagus before maybe not 2 days in a row. This may be my body telling me to slow down and try to be patient. It seems like I do fine with onions..never eaten jerusalem artichoke.. seen them but never tried them. I guess I would not know how to prepare them. I have eaten jicama but never noticed any reaction. As for broccoli and brussel sprouts give me gas but no D that I've noticed. The wine sufiites question is a bit unclear. I do not drink alcohol..but I'm not sure if it's found in other foods I consume. I do take digestive enzymes at meal time which seem to help. ________________________________ From: DuncanC <duncancrow@...> candidiasis Sent: Mon, January 25, 2010 10:18:08 PM Subject: Re: : inulin I'd guess that a reaction to asparagus is most likely because your system isn't so used to vegetables anymore; some people have to seriously restrict even the vegetables they can eat at first but dietary diversity can eventually be re-established so you can eat normal food again. Guest guest
@ Sylvia: We eat our jicama raw in salad or on a veggie dip plate but it's OK albeit bland when cooked. Try jicama also anywhere instead of potato, such as in a lattke, which is kinda a hash brown patty with scrambled egg in it. Sulfites are added to many wines to clear them, and they also occur naturally. I think gas from brussel sprouts may arise by a different bacterial microculture than the gas from onions. all good, Duncan > > How do you eat jicama? I get gas with onions and brussel sprouts. Guest guest
Thank you for the information on jicama. I will get one in the next few days and try it out.
