Now I am on Dr. Mercola's " no grain " diet, with a few variations due to the candida. It has worked for me, and EFT (the technique taught in the book) really works for helping with cravings. Guest guest
Hi There Candidiasis Group, It's more than time I communicated with you all; I have been too busy on the " Atkins Lists " and wondering why I just can't seem to stay on his Diet!!! I have come to the conclusion, that I should probably be on the " Anti-Candiasis " Diet although, having said that, " Atkins " is certainly helpful in as much as it is very " Low Carbohydrate, " which is what our particular malady requires. Are any of you on a " Specific " diet for our problem - and are any of you managing to succeed on the " Atkins " programme? Would appreciate any advice forthcoming - thanking you in anticipation. God Bless, Mitzi's Mum (NZ )))

Hi Mitzi's Mom, I'm new to this list. I started investigating the possibility of candiasis when I went on the Atkins program and had trouble losing. I did manage to slowly lose ten pounds but it was difficult and, to my way of thinking, should not have been considering my activity level and my strict adherence to the diet. I finally plateaued at ten pounds and couldn't lose an ounce more. (But I wasn't able to lose that much on any other program, including near starvation!) So I reread his section on yeast overgrowth and did some research. I have been having extreme exhaustion for about ten years but no other symptoms that I would have attributed to yeast. No vaginal yeast. No thrush. Nothing like that. But a huge number of the symptoms listed in my research DID apply to me. So I've gone on the anti-yeast diet and am taking anti-fungals. It's too soon to know how it will go though I have experienced die-off symptoms. I sure hope it works and I can get back to my old, energetic self after all these years! Guest guest
Date: Wed, 4 Jun 2003 07:37:51 -0700 From: " judith " <J.Isbell@...> Sherry Which Anti-funal diet are you using? Judi Hi Judi, I just did some (actually A LOT!) of research on the internet and found out what not to eat. I'm also taking natural anti-fungals in rotation -- changing every four days. Right now I'm using grapefruit seed extract, pau d'arco, wild oregano oil and garlic extract. (I put the liquid garlic into capsules and take it that way because it is REALLY potent! and I would have no friends left if I didn't!) I take bentonite too. I've ordered the psyllium laxative with both seeds and husks and some Caprol. Once they get here I'll combine the psyllium, bentonite and Caprol, as suggested on some websites. And of course I'm taking probiotics and have the prebiotic inulin on order too. And a number of other supplements also to try and build up my body that has been battered by this nasty enemy. While I'm at it I'd like to ask a question of everyone here and see if anyone has experienced what I am. As I said I rotate the antifungals every four days. That's supposed to keep the yeast off-balance and not give it a chance to put up defenses. (I'm really giving this plant characteristics like it's a human enemy, aren't I! <G>) Anyway, I experience die-off symptoms every time I change antifungals. About one or two days after I've switched. For me that's extreme exhaustion and brain fog. Then it goes away and I feel pretty good. Until I change antifungals again. I'm managing to put up with it because I'm imagining that the extreme symptoms mean that I'm hitting that old yeast hard. I hope. Anyone else experience this?
