Guest guest
Hi Tricia One of the items I intend eating for breakfast is brown rice with rice milk and LSA sprinkled over the top. (L = linseed/flaxseed S = Sunflower seed and A = Almonds. I buy these wholesale, keep them in the fridge, then run them through the blender to a fine meal. I'm tossing up about the almond, though, as some authorities say almonds are ok, some say otherwise. Apparently, though ~ if you put your nuts [not peanuts] into a slow oven, it kills any mould.) I also have a recipe for Buckwheat pancakes; no sugar, no flavour. Interested? hee hee..... Helen www.geocities.com/hheartchange

My husband asked me this morning if I would like any special foods for Mother's Day. I told him yeah, scrambled eggs made with three extra-large eggs, melted cheddar on top is mandatory; at least 4 breakfast sausages, hash brown potatoes, and a big glass of orange juice. He just rolled his eyes, because every single one of those foods both my doctors say I can never eat again for the rest of my life. So I had my usual bowl of plain old-fashioned oats with a banana. >I love real maple syrup, I had been buying it at the local health food store. They've been getting real honey and maple syrup from local farms (Well, about 400 miles away in upstate NY) for over a year now. Alas, both items are also now banned from my diet. > My husband's > first experience in an American restaurant was when he ordered french > toast, thinking it was french bread....toasted! I've been seeing it made this way in a lot of vegan cookbooks released lately. Some even offer savory alternatives instead of the powdered sugar topping. How do you feel about " banned " foods? I don't ban anything even if I know I will never eat it again. I get feisty otherwise and defiant too. Of course, you have to go with what works for you. Like I said, I haven't worked with a doctor on my current health, so I am not sure how I would deal with conflicting information or compulsory banning of certain foods or food components. That (except the cheese) is my husband's big breakfast. I make it all from scratch, but have learned that as fab as my hash browns are, (I have bragging rights, lol) the calories do me in. So I stick to a couple of sunny sides up and 2 sausages or bacon slices. And I have to keep that to less than once a week. I lost the gain plus another pound as of this morning. I haven't been able to get my carbs down to where I want them because we are at the end of our run, so we are eating stocked foods. But when on hometime, I am going way down and when re-stocking for the next run, I will add more low carb foods. I think at this point in my weightloss journey, the carbs need to be way down. This past week I got down to 64 avg net carbs compared to 80-100. Interesting that my calories went up to 1210 avg.
