Guest guest
Jeannette, i know just how you feel about not taking your meds bcs of stomach upset. I am sitting here trying to avoid the same thing. the antibiotic that I'm on, augmentin, has really done a number on my intestines!! I finally called the pharmacy to see if these were common side effects, and she said they were. Ugh!! I don't know if I can take this. I called the Doc to ask him to switch me to another antibiotic but have'nt heard back yet. I also found something interesting out, augmentin can also cause elevated liver enzymes!!!! Now mine have been running high since starting the arava, but last weeks were the highest I've ever had. I have been doing labs every Friday to keep an eye on things, now my RD has had me stop the Arava. I think the augmentin is more of a problem here then the arava. I had one day of relief from the sinus infection and then this whole nausea, diahreah thing starts. Hang in there. I find eating small meals with inbetweens of dry toast and or pretzels really help. I know it's hard, but still try and drink your fluids. It's so easy to get dehydrated. I mean, who wants to fill a tummy that feel yucky with a bunch of fluid????!!!!! The only " good " thing that has come of this whole mess these last few months is that I've lost over 20lbs. (still have another 30 to go)YIPPEEEE!!! I had just come to a good place in my head about my weight, that I may never again be able to be as active as I was before, and thus losing this so called pregnancy fat (ok, ok , my youngest IS 12, but I have pictures to prove I was way thinner before that pg, ) was probably not going to happen!! Anyway, I hope your PCP can help you today, and that you're feeling better soon. smiles, Barb -----Original Message----- From: olsonsej@... <olsonsej@...> egroups < egroups> Date: Tuesday, July 11, 2000 9:18 AM Subject: [ ] My stomach >Hello Everybody: > >Well I called my RD yesterday and he reduced my MTX by one pill. Guest guest
I went to my PCP today. He said the dang Prednisone is the major culprit here. My stomache is bloated from it that it pushes my food back up causing acid reflux. The diarrhea is from IBS which I have had for years. The dizziness is caused from an imbalance of fluids in my inner ear resulting in Vertigo. I am to take two Prilosec per day instead of one for my stomach and have another script for my Vertigo. Are we having fun yet????? Jeannette

Guest guest
Jeanette, I'm glad you're doing better today. How's the sunburn itch? RA meds make us more sun sensitive. I can't wait to hear that you're REALLY having fun! a ----- Original Message ----- From: <olsonsej@...> < egroups> Sent: Wednesday, July 12, 2000 4:07 PM Subject: Re: [ ] My stomach > a: > > I am doing a bit better today. Guest guest
Barb, Have you tried taking an acidophilus and bifidus combination with your antibiotics? This is what my osteopathic physician recommended I do when I was on minocycline. I never had a yeast infection or intestinal upset. I'm surprised your doc wouldn't recommend it considering the problems you've been having. Here's a pretty good site about acidophilus/bifidus: http://www.time4health.com/acidophilus.htm Hope this helps, ----- Original Message ----- From: " Kendall " <bbkendall@...> < egroups> Sent: Tuesday, July 11, 2000 11:58 AM Subject: Re: [ ] My stomach > Jeannette, > i know just how you feel about not taking your meds bcs of stomach upset.
