Guest guest
I also have had shingles about five years ago. I had them on my forehead and on my scalp. My eyes are also very dry. Sometimes my eyelid will be stuck to my eyeball when I wake up. One time I tore the cornea in my eye. I also have very cold hands. When they get real cold they turn white and numb. Very painful. Do you ever get a burning feeling on the roof of your mouth? I get that on occasion too. Other symptoms Hi!Its very interesting how the discussion regarding autoimmune disorders continues. I know some people get very worried about this and so I repeat this might not be relevant to all members esp. those who ( dare I say it!!) 'just ' have "A" . I asked about other members who have other conditions a long time ago and had mixed responses but there certainly are those of us with several of us with other conditions esp. those classed as autoimmune disorders. I asked my parents about chickenpox and evidently I was off school for 6 weeks and nobody could at that time understand why I was so very ill. (Its OK I was a paediatric nurse and so I now know why and what can happen with such conditions !!) Having several other conditions now besides "A" has caused me to spend quite a time searching the web for more possible links and information. can I ask if any other members have problems with their eyes being very dry , poor or limited tear production (either diagnosed as having sjorgens syndrome or not ) ? I know there are others with hypothroidism ( underactive thyroid function ) but does anybody have proven abnormal adrenal function too ? This is not written to frighten people , either you have the problems or you don't. Having "A" now doesn't mean you will develop them , I am just asking not trying to link things or panic people . If you do have either of these conditions or symptoms of them please get in touch . Thanks
Guest guest
Hello all, I haven't posted for a while. I had a horrible case of chickenpox, but I was a teenager when it happened. I also have always had serious bouts with fever blisters (cold sores) and sun poisoning on my lips that result in sores. I developed achalasia at 6 weeks old. So, I am not sure if its connected or not. I was, within the last 4 weeks, diagnosed with diabetes. I must control my raging blood sugar levels now with medication. Another wonderful thing to monitor! I have very cold feet and "rear end" its always been a great joke between my husband and I. In the dead of summer my rear is ice cold, hahahaha. I always thought I suffered from chronic cough, but that seems to come and go with my spells with the "A". Same with the feeling of irregular heartbeat. It seems I always carry a cold or bronical something or another. Gee guys, after writing all this down, I am thinking my hubby needs to trade me in on a different model! I think I feel worse now...hahahaha. Carol K.
Guest guest
I get the burning feeling on the roof of my mouth occasionally. I have had that for about 8 to 10 years now. It was realy bad when I first got it and has gotten better over time. I went from doctor to doctor to dentist trying to get it dianosed....to no avail. I feel special sensitivity (burning?) especially on the tip of my tongue and the place on the roof of my mouth right behind my top front teeth. It's not like that all the time. I notice it more when I eat too much sugar, actually, or if I don't drink enough water. (But I'm not diabetic.) My mouth was a lot dryer once before than it is now, but I would attribute it to some of the medicine I had to take once (Paxil). I think the dry eyes and mouth CAN be sjojourns's syndrome, or some spelling like that, which is autoimmune, or they can simply be dry mouth and dry eyes. The cold hands could be raynaud's syndrome, but also could be low blood pressure and who knows what else.
Guest guest
i don't think i've ever been exposed to shingles; i had chicken pox once when i was little but it wasn't an unusually bad case. i also have the heart-pounding/skipping-a-beat thing. i had an ekg done back in high school, but they said i was fine....except that i didn't feel my heart skip during the ekg, so i wonder if it was an effective test at all. i also have problems with bronchitis, sinus infections....seems once i get a cold i just can't get rid of it. often takes four to six months to get over it...although now i work in a daycare and my immune system is tougher; i don't seem to get sick as often. oh, and my heart rate is really high even though i'm 22 and in pretty good shape. and i have the freezing-hands thing. i wonder if there is a link somewhere in all this.... -katy
Guest guest
I always find it fascinating to see what other ailments we may/may not have in common. I keep hoping some day they will find out why we all suffer from achalasia. The only thing I can think of with me ( I had chicken pox too but who didn't really?) is that I suffered with Lyme Disease when I was young. I was never treated other than the symptoms because it was 20 some odd years ago when it didn't even have a name. I was curious to know if anyone else ever had Lyme Disease? I know from research that this disease can cause a host of other neurological things! I don't write too often but I love to hear how everyone is doing and all the new members...wow! , I took your advice and am finally getting around to getting the heller done...I am sick of worrying about it all! Take care everyone! in Virginia Beach

Beach. I think that you will be glad that you are going to have the Heller Myotomy done. If you are interested, I will tell you which doctor just did mine on Jan. 15, 2002. So far I am very pleased and he is here local. Connie
