Guest guest
Hi all, First, thank you very much for the info about the MSM. I appreciate it. It's practically impossible to find some of that stuff in the archives! And I had another quick question. They have grape seed oil at the store now (cooking oil), and I thought I had remembered someone mentioning this, but wasn't sure if it was just the brain fog talking. My question is: what oils are acceptable? I know cold pressed EV Olive oil is, but I've heard varying reports on the others, like Sesame, etc. Is it just that we should always aim to use cold pressed oils, or are some oils truly bad for Candida? Thanks so much! _________________________________________________________________ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com
Guest guest
How experienced is Dr. Falk? Does Dr. Dempsey have someone covering his patients while he is out? I just had a Botox injection last Friday. It helped alleviate some swallowing problems that I had been having, but they were nowhere near as serious as yours sound. They have to do an endoscopy to do the injection and they can find out what is going on. They can also remove any food that might be blocking your LES. Your description sounds like a real emergency. I would not take " he is out of the office " for an answer. I can guarantee that there is somebody in his practice that knows how to reach him on the telephone or that Dr. Falk knows how to reach him on the telephone and can ask him exactly your question. Do not give up until you get an answer to your question. Make yourself the biggest pest Dr. Dempsey and Dr. Falk have ever encountered. You are that important. > > Thank you for the welcome and words of support! I was hoping to get some advice. Dr. Dempsey (the surgeon) is out of the office for a couple of weeks and the earliest he could get me in for surgery (and it's not guaranteed at this point) would be May 18th. Because I can't even get water down and am having symptoms of dehydration, Dr. Falk suggested that I come in tomorrow for a botox injection to get me through until I can have the surgery. I scheduled it for tomorrow afternoon, but wanted to get your thoughts. I know there is a risk of scar tissue and a less successful HM outcome, but I just don't think I can make it until the 18th, or later, with no treatment. Is this the right decision? Thank you in advance!! > >
Guest guest
Marie's right about fighting, but trooth is, sometimes you are just NOT going to get an answer. When you get to this point, it IS an emergency. I know -- I've been there: it took five days in a cardiac unit to rehydrate me. Even *that* didn't much impress the GI's, lol! The best they offered was a pill I was allergic to, and ensure. The botox prolly isn't optimal, but Lord, it's a good bit better than the alternative. . . . I made it three months after the ER/cardiac ward, with zip/zero/nada help from the GIs. But I made eating my ONLY occupation. And I mean that seriously. Check my Food without Corners post. achalasia/message/65451 Buy/cook/eat/regurge -- I was regurging about 95% of EVERYTHING food AND liquid. I'd lost so much weight that it was easier to stand or walk around than to sit on a wood chair -- I could feel my bones coming through my skin. . . . And I was lucky. I only had the one rehydration -- there are those here who've done it multiple times weekly. Love and light from here to there, > > Thank you for the welcome and words of support! Guest guest
It sounds like you are in the best possible hands. If I were in your place, I would do just what you are doing. I hope the Botox brings you relief while you are waiting for a more permanent solution. Bea > > > > > > Thank you for the welcome and words of support! I was hoping to get some advice. Guest guest
I just had a redo HM in October. Prior to that, I had 2 dilitations in an attempt to make it until the surgery. My surgeon yelled at me, saying I should have had botox because it causes less scarring than dilitation. I know that botox is contrary to popular opinion, but that is what she told me. mike in WI ________________________________ From: erin_lievens <erinl@...> achalasia Sent: Tuesday, May 1, 2012 11:44 AM Subject: Thank you and a question  Thank you for the welcome and words of support! Guest guest
I had a botox injection before I had my HM and the surgeon I had said he had no issues with doing the HM after botox. He said the dilitation was what made surgery more troublesome for him. S -- Thank you and a question Thank you for the welcome and words of support! I was hoping to get some advice.
