Guest guest
This is a post from the candida forum at http://www.healthyawareness.com/candida_general/ - passing it along because it looks so useful! Ann ------------------------------------------------------------------ I digested (pardon the pun) this info from a very large and active St. s Celiac Disease list I also participate in (over 3000 active members - a wealth of experience). Candida and Celiac disease share leaky gut as a major symptom. It's a frequent topic of discussion there as well as here. Obviously, first consideration is to make sure you have addressed the cause of the leakage - candida overgrowth, parasites, celiac disease, etc. Healing recommendations boiled down to 4 main ingredients: L-glutamine, digestive enzymes, probiotics, and dietary changes. Taking L-glutamine (amino acid) was highly recommended - some experienced significant relief of symptoms in days, others over a few weeks or months. The typical protocol was 500mg per meal but some took more. Products endorsed included Twinlab 500mg capsules and Metagenics Glutagenics. The latter was taken in a 1 tsp/day dose with water - excellent results for some after about a month. Solaray Pancreatin 3000 was recommended as one of the digestive enzymes to take - 1 per meal. One person insisted that " live " enzymes were the best. I know nothing about live versus dead digestive enzymes - perhaps someone more knowledgeable (e.g., or Polly) can elaborate. Both enzymes and probiotics have been dicussed thoroughly here - I have nothing to add regarding specific recommendations. As far as diet goes, avoidance of dairy, fruits, and uncooked foods (salads) were recommended. Thats the leaky gut formula in a nutshell, from the celiac perspective. Again, this info is not " scientific " by any means. What worked for others may not work for you. I have just begun dealing with leaky gut in a more aggressive fashion and have nothing of personal experience to add yet regarding the effectiveness of the protocol or any of the products mentioned. I will share this once I feel I have something of substance to offer. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ http://www.willow-web.net Quality Web Design ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
