Guest guest
You poor thing. ( I'm not an expert at this, but I've read SO MUCH over the last couple of weeks about my candida problem that I may be able to give you at least a glimmer of advice. First of all, to ease your mind so you don't over stress yourself (candida thrives in a stressed out body!!), get an HIV test so you can stop worrying about that. You do have many of the symptoms of systemic candida (from what I've read), but that doesn't always mean you have it. The symptoms are like that of other problems, too. BUT... providing that you get your HIV test and it comes back negative, and you have the vag. yeast infections so much, PLUS all the other problems...look for a doctor who understands and treats candida! Your doctor, and I don't know him, shouldn't have let you go on this long without trying something else! Good heavens that's a LONG time! Anyway, there's a web site, but the name eludes me now, where you can find a doctor who treats this near you, or as near as you can get. You can try your local health food stores for antigungals and enzymes, but your symtoms are so agonizing and chronic that you might have to go the diflucan, etc. route with a physician. But, here's a list of what I take from the health food store: Caprylic acid (sustained release) Oil of oregano Psillium husks (to cleanse the colon, where candida lives, and prepare the colon for the antifungals to do their work) Acidophilus (to put the good bacteria back in again) I'm also waiting on an order of SF-722 to come in this week, and I'll be getting some olive leaf extract as well. I'm getting all this because it's said that rotating every 4 days is important so that the candida doesn't become resistant. Foods to avoid: Fruit..even tomatoes (but for lemon, lime and grapefruit) Sugars of any kind (except stevia) Mushrooms Cheese and other dairy (check this with the other experts on this board) Fermented condiments (vinegar, olives, mayo, mustard---pickled anything because it contains vinegar) I may have left something out, so do your research. There are books out there, " The Yeast Connection " is one, and tons of info on the web. But, first things first. Ease your mind and get that HIV test. Then begin reading all you can, and if you can afford it, find a doctor who treats candida. Good luck, sweetie, and keep us posted. Jalilah > Please help me. Guest guest
Sounds exactly what I was going through! Glad you made it to the list. I would get tested for HIV if you feel worried about it, just to ease your mind, but you may have plain old candida like the rest of us here. Also, you may want to get tested for other STD's to rule those out too, especially if your period has been wacky with the yeast infection (part of signs of Chlymidia - sp?). As far as treatment, the over the counter stuff just won't cut it. You may want to get a prescription for diflucan than follow that with using natural antifungals such as Pau'darco, Yarrow, and marshmallow root. Taking echinacea is helpful too, or other immune boosters. Douching with tea tree oil is helpful too. You can purchase pure tea tree oil at a health food store. Put 3 drops into water in the bag and use that solution. There are also tea tree oil depositories by " Tree of Life " product that are helpful too. Many candida sourses also say that using whole garlic cloves inserted (of course with a string attached)is helpful. These steps greatly helped me. Also, get an allergy test! Candida can prone you to food allergies/sensitivities and some of these allergies may be setting you off too. I found that wheat products were flairing up the yeast infection. Now that I am off the wheat and other allergic foods, and after the program I went through, I only seem to get the yeast problem when I eat something bad. It is now a good indicator of if I ate something bad so I don't eat that again. Remember to check with your trusted physician about all of this to make sure it is right for you, but many people have had success doing these things for themselves. Shoshana > Please help me. Guest guest
Sorry to post so much. Jalilah brought up the good point of diet which I forgot to mention to you. You may want to research this for yourself at this site: http://www.infosky.net/~alexmi/candida.htm#1.1 By the way, this site is bookmarked as well as some other great sites. If people need information, you may want to check out the links in that section. I'll try to add more if there are others that I find. Guest guest
Hi - Hormone imbalance can also a candidiasis culprit. Yeast will sometimes disappear when your period begins b/c progesterone levels go back down. Chronic yeast infections are much more common than HIV, but get tested if you are concerned. (I was so scared I was tested 4 times, twice initially, 6 mo.s later, and a year later just to be positive.) Here are a few things you could try: *Wear no underwear or cotton men's style boxers. Oxygen is your friend. *I use dove unscented soap (although I am still looking for something better). Also watch your laundry detergent. *Believe it or not I have allergic reactions to toilet paper, so I have to be careful about what tp I use. Yes, this alone can bring on a yeast infection for me. *Change your diet. High sugar diet will contribute to yeast. Have you been changing your diet along with the supplements? This really is a must. *If you are douching with commercial yogurt, I would advise you to stop. Commercial yogurt is often made with bacteria that are NOT good for your vagina, like streptococcus. (And for God's sakes don't douche with kefir - I heard of someone actually doing that, geez what a disaster.) Try the tea tree oil or acidophilus powder. Good luck - you are absolutely NOT alone in this. The intimacy with your boyfriend will return with your health. ;-) - S. > Please help me. I would really appreciate any and all feedback. Guest guest
Dear Jalilah, Thank you so much for your reply. You're right about getting an HIV test. It has been on my mind for the past 3 months. I'm going to have to find a site that offers rapid testing (results in about an hour). Otherwise, I don't think I can handle the anguish of getting results after a week or more. I hope it comes back negative....it would be devastating if it were otherwise. I was reading the list about foods to avoid, and I eat most of them on an everyday basis, especially milk and fruit juices (e.g., orange juice & cranberry juice). I also tend to have a sweet tooth. I eat lots of chocolate and ice-cream (in fact, I had about 2 cups of ice- cream yesterday and lots of M & M's today). I used to drink soda a lot but I've cut down considerably to maybe just 2 or 3 a week. Goodness, could this actually be the culprit? Isn't the cranberry juice supposed to help though? If you can remember the site with contacts for candida doctors can you please send it my way? I would really appreciate it. Again, thank you for all your suggestions. I'll keep you posted Cristina > > Please help me. I would really appreciate any and all feedback. Guest guest
Hi Michalsa, Where do you get this product and what is it supposed to do? So you also had yeast infections that didn't go away and this product helped? Thank you so much. Guest guest
Soshana, Thank you so much for your suggestions. I have actually tested for all STD's (including Chlamydia) and all have come back negative. Now all I have to do is get the HIV test. By the way, I've actually always been irregular with my periods. I once didn't get my period for 6 months! So were your yeast infections also there almost 100% of the time? I just feel as though I'm the only person that has gone through this, but it's a relief to know I'm not alone. Two questions, 1) how long should you douche with Tea Trea Oil? 2) is there a specific allergy test you're referring to? Thank you for your help Cristina > > Please help me. I would really appreciate any and all feedback. I've > > been having chronic vaginal yeast infections for the past two > years. > >

I asked for a test, but I don't think the doctor did it... and I'm kinda glad. The way results get misinterpreted, and the way insurance co's. trade databases now -- even with non-medical businesses (true) -- I don't think I want that on my record. Can't get a loan, etc. if people think you are about to drop dead! Based on what you say below, I think you should just treat the candida and skip the HIV test. > I was reading the list about foods to avoid, and I eat most of them > on an everyday basis, especially milk and fruit juices (e.g., orange > juice & cranberry juice). And *read labels* -- I'm sure this crowd is tired of hearing about my baked beans, LOL -- but I was shocked to see that a little can of baked beans had as much sugar as a soda! You'll be surprised where it hides. To twist an old quote... sugar is the opiate of the masses! They put it in just about everything. Aim for unprocessed foods -- less chance that it picked up any added sugar (or MSG, or...) along the way. >Isn't the cranberry juice > supposed to help though? You can get UNSWEETENED cranberry juice or concentrate at a health food store, along with the stevia you can safely use to sweeten it. Use stevia *sparingly* or it will taste bitter. HTH! Guest guest
Hi , I have actually not been changing my diet since I started taking acidophilus. I never thought it could be causing my health problems. As I mentioned in an earlier post, I like to eat sweets, esp. chocolate & ice-cream. Oh goodness, this is going to be hard to give up. Regarding the yogurt, if it has streptococcus, will it indicate it on the ingredient list? I was looking at the yogurt I bought and it didn't have streptococcus as an ingredient. I will definitely try the tree tea oil. Thanks! :-) Cristina -- In candidiasis@y..., " organicagrrl " <stacyscott100@y...> wrote: > Hi - > > Hormone imbalance can also a candidiasis culprit. Guest guest
Cristina, Hi! Yes, I had the infection 100% all the time. It was so stressful! The other thing I forgot to mention is that you may want to be tested for diabetes and hypoglycemia. Chronic yeast infections can also be a sign of blood sugar problems, which candida can help cause too. Especially if blood sugar problems run in your family like mine. As far as the allergy test, the one I took was the SAGE test, but I think there is another popular one that starts with an R, but I can't remember the name. Anyone else know it? You could do it naturally on your own, but it would take tons of time and planning. The test I took tests 50-100 common foods and it tests for delayed reaction, meaning that you find what could be a problem a few hours to a day later which is harder to detect. I was blown away to find out I was allergic to Spinach! There was some other good ones to know. When I stopped eating them, the yeast pretty much stopped. I find it funny that the yeast is now my indicator for when I am eating something bad, my bodies way of saying " no way! " . The tea tree oil - I was using it once or twice a week for about a month. You might want to ask a naturopath what would be right for you. I also bought the depositories at the health food store, and that seemed to help as well. Hope this helps! Guest guest
Hi Cris - I understand about the sweets! Just take it slowly. Try to at least cut back if you don't think you can give them up. I eat a fruit (one on my candida diet) 30 minutes before breakfast. This practice REALLY helps with my sweet tooth for some reason. No, the yogurt will NOT necessarily list all the bacteria in it. Usually commercial yogurt will say something like: Made with live and active cultures including l. acidophilus. It rarely lists all of them. You are welcome, good luck - > > > Please help me.
