Yeah dairy is a problem. > > Sometimes I eat left-over meat from the night > before, but mostly one of the above three. > > I would guess that if you are starving when you > don't eat grains, that perhaps you are still > believing fat is bad? I find I need a lot more of it just to keep from losing weight. Lots of butter on everything and olive oil, and I'm getting the impression that safflower oil is good as well for a candida diet. But I gather you don't do the food rotation then? That seems to be par for the course with candida so there's also the issue of having to make sure I leave a couple of days between eating certain kinds of foods. > > What exactly did you eat when you stopped eating > complex carbs? Was it enough protein and fat? I eat tonnes of protein. And fats as well. I am getting used to this as I was a vegetarian for almost five years. > > Another suggestion might be an allergy to nuts. I think the nuts are going to have to go as well. > > I'm interested in hear what other folks recommend. So am I. Another thing is that the more I read on teh web the more contradictory advice I see regarding what is O.K. to eat and what isn't. It's getting very confusing. And there seem to be a lot of very expensive solutions and as someone who is on a fixed income I find it rather disheartening and hoping I don't have to go that route to deal with this and get my life back. Some sources say sweet potatoes are fine and potatoes with skin, others say stay away from them for sure. Others say corn is totally off limits, some say it can be eaten in moderation. Some say oats, millet, rye, buckwheat are fine. Others say stay away. I'm finding I just ahve to find out for myself. I think I will get rid of the grains, one more time, and maybe hold on to the sweet potato. What have others experienced with sweet potatoes? What about carrots and beets? Are they considered high-carb vegetables? Some lists say eat them, others say to avoid them. Steriods are not necessary for low blood pressure - I had that too, and simply a very good ocean sea salt like Celtic with over 84 minerals will normalize your blood pressure within a week or two - take the drink I recommend - 1/4 tsp. ocean sea salt and the juice of 1/2 lemon in 6 ounces of clean water 6 times a day (3 with meals to aid digestion). > > My question is : my husband did the Atkins diet a couple of years ago and would like to do it again to shift a bit of weight that's crept back. Or should I just go for it and stop dithering? ==>You and your husband could do the diet I recommend, which is much healthier than Atkin's (although Atkins has a lot right) - if your husband doesn't have candida he would modify it somewhat of course. You would both benefit by reading my article which has all of the basics about foods in it. My diet is also based on Weston A. Price and the Optimal Diet by Dr. Jan K in Poland - see our Candida Diet folder for the website. The Optimal Diet recommends certain ratios of proteins to fats to carbs for losing weight. ==>Evidently the Optimal Diet is done cold turkey without any ill effects, even though it is very high in fat - maybe read a lot of the articles at their website and you will understand. > > I live in the UK but have had H202 IVs in the US which I used to get > myself off the steroids. My husband may have to go to the US for work > so we could cordinate both. ==>Please do read my main article " How to Successfully Overcome Candida " before you decide to do the exactly same diet your husband does. You say you are taking a ton of nutrients/supplements - remember that sometimes " more is not better " because you can overwhelm your body with too many things. The idea is to nudge the body towards healing, harnessing its powerful healing mechanisms. Diet is the most important aspect of getting well. Dr. Mercola also sells it on his site www.mercola.com - he lives in Chicago, Illinois. Best wishes to you too Jo! Bee P.S. Jo, may I please ask that you trim your messages - see our Candida Group Info folder for how to do it correctly. Thanks a bunch.
