Guest guest
As maybe someone already reported, we learned at the PBC convention that true fuzzy brain/brain fog (encephalopathy) due to liver disease only occurs with cirrhosis. Hopefully most of us don't have that excuse. Here are my excuses (quotes are taken from articles on the internet): (1) prednisone - "The risk of memory impairment from prednisone is considerable, say researchers at Wayne State University in Detroit in the December 1996 issue of Neurology." (2) hypothyroidism - "During research regarding thyroid conditions, I discovered several references to "slowed thinking" as a symptom of Hashimoto's thyroid disease (a form of hypothyroidism, also called underactivethroid). If you think you suffer from slowed thinking, it may be worthwhile to insist on a re-evaluation of thyroid levels." (3) My age - "It is a little discouraging, but it does appear that as you age your memory does decrease." "Age-Associate Memory Impairment (AAMI) refers to a normal decline in memory due to aging. Some decline in memory is normal as we age. This often takes the form of "memory lapses" (e.g., forgetting where you left your glasses). Individuals with AAMI may show this kind of memory decline, but it is within the limits of what is considered "normal" for their age group. In the 1980s, a group of scientists and physicians at the National Institutes of Health developed a set of standards for diagnosing AAMI. A patient may be considered to have AAMI if he or she is at least 50 years old..." (4) Perimenopause - Memory Changes: "You may feel like you are forgetting things more easily. Sometimes this is referred to as "brain fog". It may be due to lack of sleep and/or the fact that since there are hundreds of estrogen receptors on the brain and the decreased estrogen levels effects brain function, including memory." "Fuzzy thinking is probably the most disturbing symptom of perimenopause. It's known to be transient, but it can be a real impediment to your efficiency. We can't be excused from work or other responsibilities until it clears up. Inability to concentrate or remember things has been attributed to lack of estrogen." Guest guest
sounds awful! i don't have any detailed knowledge of this, but aloe vera juice is good for your digestive system and can help with constipation if you take enough of it. ali
Guest guest
Visit www.curezone.com, there you can find a lot of info on that! Make sure you drink plenty of water, fiber and a good diet is essential. It will take a while to fix this problem, but you can do it! Also, probiotics are recommended and make sure you avoid antibiotcs in the future! Good luck! Guest guest
You are not alone in this 'laxative dependency'-- don't despair!! There is hope-- BUT, I can tell you from experience-- I've recently 'quit' herbal laxative dependency (cascara, aloe, senna, turkey rhubarb...)-- and it's a process, but you'll never be able to repair your damaged digestive system so long as you use them-- that's a fact. Since I've stopped,, with the help of some more 'tonifying' herbs and an acupunturist, we are rebuiliding the health of the intestine-- slowly, as nature allows-- and I've had a few 'normal, healthy' movements as I've not had in a very long time. Hopefully it will just get better and better ( I have a lot of faith that it will)-- What I also feel very, personally, strongly about is that prolonged laxative use can cause a lot of damage and further weaken an already harmed internal climate. With the greatest empathy, and blessings on restored health, Diane
Guest guest
Steve, I have been where you are. Had so many antibiotics, you would not believe it. I can tell just by looking at your email, the spelling, usage, etc, that you are VERY sick with this, brain fog, etc. Any chemical sensitivities yet? I bet you have food allergies pretty bad. Any depression, mood swings, rashes? I have had my ups and downs with trying to recover from this. It would take too long to tell you, but I'd be happy to tell you in pieces, and to offer whatever knowledge I have gained in my 3+ years of research and experience. I'm not cured yet, not by a long shot, but I have made some significant improvements, and I bet we have a lot in common. Try to hang in there. Be careful of regular MDs. They helped to put you where you are, and they DON'T want to take responsability for their part in this. The best advice I can give you is to BE IN CHARGE OF YOUR OWN HEALTH. Stay informed. Doctors, as far as this ailment goes, even if they realize and admit it's candida, don't know as much about the nature of it as I do at this point, and they don't want to take the time to learn. Sad, but true. I'm waiting to hear from a possible expert in candida at the NIH,and hopefully, he is different. Please don't give up. When you do start on antifuingals, the bad news is, you will feel worse before you feel better, and it is VERY hard to know the difference between die off and illness. But I believe it is possible to recover. I have made enough progress to retain hope. Take care.
Guest guest
, husband and Sharon... I am planning to go to the ABA in Houston. Either of you know where I can obtain a map leading me there. I am in San . I know my daughter (28 yrs) can benefit from the ABA approach to learning as I work with her at home with flash cards, games, etc. But she had a short attention span, behavior issues at times, and she is obsessive compulsive. My concern is how to get ABA recognized and utilized into her IEP with HCS. That means 'funded' as well? , my daughter too is with HCS and attends a day hab. Although it is not a workshop it is a learning center. But her needs are not addressed on an individual level. Behavior issues are addressed by the increase of drugs. Which I have kept from happening so far, but the stares are there. I so appreciate what Guppy has to say in her well written draft to DADs.
