I make do with protein supplements since I work out and have lots of substitutes from the local health food stores, as well as lots of fresh veggies. I have been doing this for about 10 years though, so I guess it is second nature to me now. I had a hard time at first too....plus I was 15 and all my friends were eating pizza and junk food. I make the best of what I have now, and have become somewhat of a health nut. The advantages are apparent, since all my friends have had colds and other ailments and I've been perfectly healthy. I also had Lyme and Babesia, both of which I knocked out, I'm sure partially attributable to my diet and supplement regimen, and all the exercise. When you take care of yourself all around, your immune system responds in kind. I was never disabled with either of the tick diseases...I continued my normal schedule....and the Babesia I beat with a holistic treatment, Artemesia Annua, instead of the awful Malaria medicine they usually prescribe. My point? A little willpower pays off immensely in the end, hang in there. -MicHeLLe
Guest guest
I went through the same thing this summer - mind you after 3 months I took another route than having to stay on the diet 'cause I was so hungry and lost too much weight.... BUT, I'm not here to talk about what I switched to, I'm going to offer suggestions based on what I did this summer - stir fry veggies with tofu is a quick & easy meal for non-cook types like myself - but the tofu didn't work that well for me - chicken worked better in the stirfry for me... Pumpkin seeds, raw almonds, etc from somewhere where their nuts are FRESH - you can't afford to get the mold from nuts kept in bulk for a long time....that's why peanuts are a hard choice - they usually have molds from sitting around....but you could try a good reputable healthfood store - ask them how often their stock is moving...tell them why and they'll tell you whether or not you should have them... Kosher hotdogs and sausages - have no yeast nor do they have any sugars, everything is natural.... I ate plain yogurt (which I made myself). Some diets say no to yogurt, yet others say plain, non-commercial yogurt is fine... Certain types of Goat's cheese are not fermented so I ate some of those - I can't remember which it was now though...cottage cheese I believe was okay as well.. That's pretty much what I ate for protein....as for filling up, I sprouted my own alfalfa sprouts, ate lots of salads, used my juicer for my own vegie cocktails mixed with psyllium husks for fiber...and drank lots & lots of water. Guest guest
a: I was told to limit my citric acid, As for anyone else i don't know. I just had my appointment this week with my internet Dr. & have still been toxin free now for about 3 months, but......we are using herb killers just in case there are any yeast dormant in the tissues. As for children, i would try to limit what they eat, no cheese, peanut butter, sugar, give them some children's chewable acidolphilus , limit their fruit, i understand it would be very hard, i have 2 grandchildren who have learning disabilities & i'm sure they have candida but we can't control what they eat. Guest guest
What if you were to want a yummy snack. Hate to admit that my favorite foods are ice cream and smarties. I also have 3 kids to deal with so this is like running a regular restaurant. Robyn eats what I eat, (the 9 year old) but for some reason I am just wanting more than fresh or streamed veggies. I am big on organic salads, lemon, fresh garlic, olive oil dressing. Sometimes I add feta cheese. But I do have to watch the intake of dairy, and like yourself, yeast free/ wheat free diet. For you FemDomSoc, Do you always avoid yeast and wheat. You mentioned 10 years of doing the diet. Is this a forever thing? Miss wine too! Any tips would be appreciated. I can have plenty of 'yummy' stuff. I make my own cookies and everything. I'm also off dairy and meat. Alcohol is not something I'm interested in anyway, I prefer to keep my system pure. Guest guest
Would you (or anyone for that matter!) be willing to share some of your " yummy " receipies? I'm trying to gain weight and am currently wheat free, soy free, dairy free, and sugar free. There are days when there doesn't seem like there is much else. I would just love to have a good cookie. I made it through Thanksgiving while cooking lots of yummy stuff for everyone else while I ate turkey and plain green beans. I've got some black beans cooking right now but haven't deceided what to do with them. Also still looking for a good way to make pancakes. Any ideas? Guest guest
You may want to check the http://www.bodyecology.net site under the board area. They have a section for recipes.
