Found some more info in a book called. " The immune System cure " by Lorna

Vanderhaeghe & Bouic, Ph.D.

Quercetin: Nature's Antihistamine

.... is a powerful antiallergy nutrient capable of inhibiting inflammation.

By halting the production and release of histamine and interleukin-6,

allergic symptoms are reduced dramatically. Research has shown that

quercetin, a potent flavonoid, has an antiviral action specifically against

type-1 herpes virus, influenza and polio virus type-1. In test tube studies,

quercetin has stopped the replication of viruses as well as their ability to

infect cells. ........

Quercetin is especially effective in reducing the symptoms of asthma and

environmental allergies. It modulates allergic responses and

hypersensitivity disoreders. This very powerful nutritional ally inhibits the

release of histamine and leukotrienes by strengthening the cell membranes of

mast cells. The IgE allergic antibodies cause mast cell and basophil

membranes to become leaky, which allows allergy promoting histamine and other

cytokines to release into surrounding tissues and blood. Individuals who

take quercetin daily have very regular shaped, solid cell

membranes..........etc....

>started fighting a flu/cold so I just took 2 ! lol <
